Be specific about your mousing tastes.

Me, I like a Magic Mouse—still use the original, upgraded with a wireless charging battery, so much lighter than Apple's own second generation—but a lot of people really hate them. Some of us like low lying mice we use with our fingertips, while others want something that fills their hand like a bowling ball. Mousing tastes are just as varied as keyboard tastes.

Depends on the application/ hand size and much more factors.
Personally for me its the fantech xd5 , which is a modern wireless clone of the microsoft intellimouse line

A thumb trackball is good because you can perch it on the laptop and actually use it on your lap. I used the Logitech M570 for years and have recently upgraded to their MX Ergo.
