I'm quite disappointed that Corsair managed to botch the Vengeance so much. As one of very few metal mechanical keyboards on the commercial market (only other one I can think of is the WiNDy ALFEEL), they managed to ruin it for everyone.

The Summer of Rollback. Where Geekhack's administration demonstrated their incompetence.

R00TW0RM. Because R00TW0RM.

The aftermath of R00TW0RM. Where Geekhack's administration demonstrated their complete and utter incompetence.

The Thermaltake Knucker. Because it lies.

The Unicomp free shipping coupon... mainly because they seemed to be teasing so much more. (I mean, coupons are good, but damn.)

I vote for that ridiculous Madcatz S.T.R.I.K.E keyboard. Madcatz...Topre can barely get away with charging over $250 for a keyboard with rubber domes, you have no chance; especially when we know what you're capable of:

Vortex. V for Vaporware.

Maybe we should combine Summer of Rollback and ROOTWORM+Aftermath into one. the Rollbacks were cost by ROOTWORM's hacks. Also, the fact that GH wasn't backed up correctly and could not be restored properly really was a great candidate for the Ping award, more so than the rollback itself and the hacks.

another nomination: the Lin vs. MagicMeatball epic thread.

Geekhack turning into a key cap enthusiast's forum.

geekhack for becoming a circlejerk arts and crafts site, breaking new boundaries in single key pricing. Herd mentality / bandwagon effect in full flow.

Another vote for the Lin vs. MagicMeatball epic thread, if your caught out, don't apologize and make things right. Go mental and hurl abuse at everyone.

Dare I say ripsters decent to the underworld? Banished to myth and legend

Magicmeatball changed his name to mmb over at GH and everyone acts like nothing happened.

Yes GH allowed him to cover up and delete the posts over there, history's written by the winners mate.

Another nomination, the Changdrew saga. GH mod given lots of money vanishes, but not very well and still visits the site and provides vague updates via proxy.

Truly Ergonomic remapping software, sorry vapourware. I just can't let go...

[edit] I don't even have one of their keyboards...

Was Geekhack failing horribly this year? The downtimes and so on, or was it last year? I'm getting old(not really);D

Not all of the rollbacks were because of R00TW0RM. At least two were due to Ripster abusing his moderator privileges and deleting users.

Maybe it'd be better to combine the Summer of Rollback, R00TW0RM, and the aftermath of R00TW0RM into "The clusterfuck that was Geekhack this summer"

I nominate The *Ping* Award itself, for getting more than double the number of nominations than any other nomination thread (so far)

Ripster's actions leading up to the ban, that's what's nomination-worthy. And, that's already there. ;)

The Paypal group buy scam routine (or more specific, how Paypal ruined Sixty's Vortex Race group buy).
