It really depends on the configuration. In my case I have a solenoid and two LEDs connected. How to connect the cables is described in my technical reference manual here: https://www.bucklingspring.com/technica ... downloads/ on page 4-97 (191) and the following.
I just wanted to confirm that this is working spot on in my tests ... I will add this as the standard method to remove the inserts in the Model F manual ... HUGE thanks for this idea. Below a few of the photos I took and some measurements:DrivenKeys wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021, 02:00Here's a quick collage I put together on my phone of how to make the (hopefully) damage-free insert remover I just mentioned.

I put the resistor between the PIN 3 and PIN 5. So, I would get the ground direct (and in series), but the resistors before the PIN connections. In theory your method should work, but I would just give it a try ... worst case, the LEDs will burn out
You made my day - these are beautiful news ... gorgeous set. Looking forward to the day, when I make the first photo of a complete F77Ellipse wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021, 03:56The screw + paper method seems like the best method so far to remove stabilizer inserts!

We finally have some approvable key sets! See the below example - please note some keys have been slightly cut off in the photo. And the photo was taken with a camera, not a scanner, so there may be some distortion.

Will there be any 1.5u stepped keys produced? I haven't been able to find them anywhere, not even on Unicomps website.Ellipse wrote: ↑26 Jan 2021, 03:56The screw + paper method seems like the best method so far to remove stabilizer inserts!

This is so exciting!!
For similar kinda situations Ive always used crochet hooks since the hook heads can get quite thinEllipse wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 00:59Any recommendations on removing stuck new Model F stabilizer inserts, outside of opening up the keyboard to push it out? These are more solidly secured in the barrels and tougher to remove than original inserts. Maybe hand / non-electric drilling and pulling out the drill+insert might work but it is risky that it would go too far.
I was imagining that some kind of pliers tool was out there where squeezing the pliers would slightly expand and allow a tighter grip on the inside of the stabilizer insert. The straight tip lock ring / snap ring pliers I looked at might work if they are small enough:

That's awesome! Again, I'm very happy I could help. You just brought a big smile to my face. It's tough to feel useful while locked at home.
This all looks incredible, and I'm actually enjoying the wait. Thanks again for quality we can savor.
Just in case you haven't tried this: I'm not sure how you feel about using a 1.5u Command key there, but I found a 1.5u key fits properly aligned to the left edge, and feels just like the stepped 1.75u key from a stock Model M. Even though I ordered hhkb keys, I'm still going to use the 1.5u key, since I originally preferred a stepped key. Since the plate underneath looks so nice, the little gap doesn't bother me.
That's a nice suggestion! Thank you. It's possible I am too gap-averse, but I'll keep this in mind.DrivenKeys wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021, 11:22Just in case you haven't tried this: I'm not sure how you feel about using a 1.5u Command key there, but I found a 1.5u key fits properly aligned to the left edge, and feels just like the stepped 1.75u key from a stock Model M.
