Well, I did send a message just shortly after 7bit's last update, on the 5th. But I guess posting that update might have been the very last thing he did before leaving for the weekend. Oh well. The waiting game continues, I guess. :(

I just got... part of someone else's order? :? What's the procedure for this?

So that's where my white TAB key went! ;)

I don't thinkt there's a protocol in place for that scenario. I guess send a list of the extra keys to 7bit, and let him figure it out?

Got my order a few minutes before we walked out the door for vacation, so I didn't get to check it out. Pretty stoked to finally have (hopefully) everything on hand now!

I think that's a flow mark rather than a scratch. It happens when plastic has started to cool down before filling out the entire mold, so it doesn't 'weld' together seamlessly.

yeah, my enter has the same mark :( black colour, too.

Disappointed with SP quality.

SP had the same problem with their recent run of Nuclear Data, but it affected all the alphas, not just ISO Return. I don't know if their molds are getting worn out, they got a bad batch of plastic from their supplier, or they are just rushing to get keycaps out the door, but I think they need to figure this out quickly before it affects any other sets.

im very pleased with the quality but i've nothing else to compare with.

only thing i've noticed is that i'm unsure if my 'S' is the wrong way up! it could be the typeface, i won't grumble though! they're so awesome.

lukenukem: You installed it with the sprue facing "up," which should be correct. I did the same thing, because I don't want to see that nasty sprue.
This officially marks the LAST time I will be buying any SP products. The QA on these is even worse than it was on the DangerZone caps. Lots of sprues, scratches, sworls, and bubbles (I guess that's the best way to describe it - it's a very thin film of plastic on the very outside layer that easily scratches away, but still leaves a visible outline) - AND several of my DVORAK keys are mounted crooked on the stem.
-_- 3 years of waiting for.. this? Never again. GMK from here on out. (Not that I need any more keysets, if I'm honest)
All of that said, they do look very nice (the ones that are straight on the stem, and not scuffed or bubbled), the colors are great, the legends are nice and crisp (and straight).

edit: and I just noticed something odd about some of these "blanks" I got with my ErgoDox kit. It appears they were cast as double-shot caps? I can clearly see the word "CONTROL" imprinted on one (pics to follow) and "TAB" on another - others are less clear, but obviously lettering of some description. It's freakin' bizarre.

Nice boards. You need to post this on 'The Cappening' thread.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask (feel free to point me elsewhere), but I just got my caps this week and realized that I forgot to order a grey vertical bar/backslash key. It shows up like this on the leftovers page: HONEYB/VERTBSL150/GREY.

I know it's available in the leftovers list, but I'd rather buy it off someone else if it means I'll get it quicker and not have 7bit sending a single cap out. If anyone has a spare, it'd be very much appreciated!

Should I have received a tracking number when my order shipped?
I'm order #0732, I ordered in November 2015... I'm confused where my order is.

Any help? Have I missed a post somewhere in the thread?

Posted: 22 May 2018, 21:19
by zslane
If you had added SHIPTRACKED to your order, then you should have received a tracking number with your latest invoice update. If you have not received an updated invoice since you ordered, just send the message "WASSUP" to the 7bot to get one and check for the tracking number there.

If you did not add SHIPTRACKED to your order then you won't have a tracking number.

I did add SHIPTRACKED, and I paid too.

I tried WASSUP, a few weeks ago, but no response. I tried again today too. I guess we'll see.

Updates have been somewhat unreliable as of late. Maybe 7bit is still away. But I did eventually get a new invoice from the bot on the 17th as response to the 'wazzup' I sent on the 5th, so at least something's going on. Now the bot is seemingly back to giving the silent treatment, though. And still no word on whether my order is one of those that couldn't be shipped because of missing keys…

I’m in the same boat. Shiptracked, fully paid, shipnow, order locked, a bunch of wassups.

LOL!

Sorry, caligo, I know I shouldn't have laughed at that, but it was clever. Kudos.

It genuinely breaks my heart to hear from people who have waited so long and still don't have their R6 keycaps.

I received most of the order 1082, but just waiting on a "wassup" for detail on what happened to the 4 missing keys:

HONEYB/TAB150/WHITE
HONEYB/SHIFT175/WHITE
HONEYB/BACKSPACE200/WHITE
HONEYB/RETURN225/WHITE

Should I just pm 7bit directly, or does the 7bot handle order fixes too?

You'll find instructions for how to deal with missing keys in the invoice:

Code: Select all

Please submit your list of missing keys to user 7bot @ Deskthority:

MISSING
- list of missing keys -

Please submit NOTHING IF your order is COMPLETE !!!

Example:

MISSING
HONEYB/TKLBASE/BLACK:
ESCAPE missing
F1 too many
CAPS LOCK key has upside down legend

In other news, all is quiet at the Western front. The bot is running, so 7bit is obviously back. But no shipments as far as we can tell.

I'm at a point where things are not that dire, since I've already gotten most of my order – all I'm waiting for is a bunch of black keycaps to cover a hypothetical board I don't own yet, plus that missing white TAB key. Lacking the latter is more annoying than the absence of the former, to be honest. But it would be nice to know if there's even any point to planning on being able to fill my next board with those black caps, or if I should just write it off as a loss.

I know I should have postyed once in a while, so you can see I'm still here.

However, I've packed some large orders and worked on a system to enure encrypted communication with the bot.

-----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

This is 7bot's public key, you would need to pm your own PGP key.
;-)

Then, you get back an e-mail encrypted by your public key, which contains lines like these:

Code: Select all

Use this key to send an email to the bot, instead of messaging it via deskthority.
The key must appear in the first line of your email!
Please don't forget to encrypt your message with 7bot's public key!

To make things simpler, I wrote a little script which you can use to send your messages to the bot:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash

MYMSG="$@"

MYSKEY=$HOME/.7botkey
MYSUB="Round 5/6/7"
MYBOTMAIL=$(echo "botat7bitdotinfo" | sed 's/at/@/' | sed 's/dot/./')

cat $MYSKEY $MYMSG |
gpg --batch --no-tty --yes --encrypt --armor -r $MYBOTMAIL |

Just make sure you store the key somewhere (~/.7botkey) and chmod 400.

How to generate a PGP-key:

Code: Select all

gpg --batch --gen-key keygen.rc

keygen.rc:
Key-Type: RSA
Key-Length: 4096
Subkey-Type: RSA
Subkey-Length: 4096
Name-Real: your user name or rm -rf ./*
Name-Email: your@email.address
Expire-Date: 0
Passphrase: 1234abcd
Import 7bot's key:

# save key to a file (pgp_7bit.key), then run:
gpg --import pgp_7bit.key

# you need to sign it:
gpg --batch --no-tty --yes --passphrase-file passphrase.txt --sign -key bot@7bit.info
# assumes you have your passphrase for your secret key in file passphrase.txt . You can also leave away "--passphrase-file passphrase.txt " and enter your password each time.
