It uses a variation of Alps mount in that it features a peg that fits inside the larger peg in the keycap (which limits the available keycaps that fit it).
Sad trombone.

Not very useful at all. Don’t trash them, they look too good and Alps killers go to hell, but bundle them free with something else.
the typical muirium nonsense at it again, i suggest you try them yourself first before making any statement..

those are very fine switches and if in good condition (no scratch/bind) could ask for more than 15 money. but would suggest to include keycaps then.

Which was the point I made, as stated on the wiki: some Alps aren’t Alps compatible.

Someone clearly misunderstood someone here... Seems like you both agree that they're good enough switches but not much use to most of us when offered without matching keycaps?

I swear, DT has the highest incidence of misunderstandings-turned-bitchy 🤪

Well, I don't have caps for it so I guess they go in the bin. :D

Any chance regular alps caps would fit? I found a picture of Alps SKFL with a key cap and it looks very similar to alps mount caps.

I wouldn’t throw it in the bin just yet… There might be hope!

The discussion here would suggest that normal Alps caps will indeed work; at least some of them:

Which reminds me: How much should I ask for this?

Some kind of pinkish Alps switch. One of the keycaps is busted as can be seen in the picture.

Ah, Micro Switch. Mr_A500 was after my grey numpad some years ago, so you might have a taker for the caps if he’s still interested. Was a while back though.

Edit:
Misremembered. Black numpad:

The caps are very nice. Thicc as can be. Don’t know what the going rate for the keyboards is, as they remain unconverted. (Probably.)

There's a Canon AP-400 typewriter available locally. An online search suggests that it has SKFF Alps switches? I'm not really interested for myself, but am wondering if I should grab it? Price is $68, possibly negotiable.

Are you going to flip it, or is that a collector’s cry for help? “I don’t need it for my collection but, you know…”

I am baffled by low serial number and variant (D) of my
keyboard so I am asking : Did I find something good and rare or .. ?

D is likely for Deutsch, given the layout.

I don’t know if any Macintosh collectors are so interested in serial numbers as to compensate for the heavy shine and deep yellowing though. That 1984 keyboard must have done quite the tour of duty!

You know that keycaps can be replaced and also 99% of that keyboards are yellow without little retrobright?

I picked up an M0110 some years ago for 60 Euros that’s in better condition, without any obvious yellowing.

Their caps are more or less unique, as they’re not regular Alps mount like subsequent Apple mechs.

I would resell it at cost to someone here, or failing that put it on ebay if there was a good chance of it selling (none currently on there). Shipping cost would probably kill both of those options unless it's worth a lot more than that, which is why I'm asking.

Fair enough. Sure you’re not starting down the slippery slope of extending into typewriters? Like pre-digital SLRs, they’re plentiful, often very well built, still work as intended, and almost nobody wants them. Beware!

Wow, that appears to be the real thing. Here are a couple more examples with similar labels:

There are French and Italian ones on there too.

I met a guy once who collected antique barber's chairs. Completely useless, plus they don't stack well. It's all relative. But thanks for the warning, I get it!

They are not so rare, and you can buy good condition one for 80 euros or so, but
this one is nearly prototype :D
I meant you can exchange keycaps from another not working one to this one or something like that.

Hopefully he stuck with it until Hipsters rewound the clock on Turkish Barbers!

The only futures I've seen imagined where typewriters make a comeback are by Terry Gilliam and his fans.

There was a barber's (?) chair in that film too. Sounds like I need to pass on the Canon. Someone will undoubtedly end up wanting it in a month or three, but I can't afford to store it for them in the mean time while they think about it.
