Topre just adapted MX mount ...

And buckling springs alreads have perfect keycaps...

We'll see. I'd like Topre to go MX mount across the board (including HHKB of course) but I suspect this is a low end thing for them. The next shoe to drop would be their own nice PBT caps changing mount. Count me skeptical until then.

If Topre put MX mounts across their entire RealForce product line, the RF purists would scream bloody murder over the keycap wobble.

You've got the RGB. Pray tell us more! It's not nice and tight now compared to the good old Novatouch rattle?

The MX mount is as good as any other. It's the sliders that wobble ...

In terms of keycap wobble and upstroke noise, the RGB is no different from a NovaTouch in my view. In fact, the wobble feels no different to me than the MX pinks I am typing on right now. Of course, I have SA sets on both, and that may be exaggerating the wobble a bit.

But I'm not bothered by wobble as much as I am bothered by the upstroke noise. And as with the NovaTouch, that is easily solved with silencing rings. In effect, the RGB is just a very expensive, full-size version of the NovaTouch, with LED backlighting and a (slightly) configurable actuation point.

Booger.

How level do the caps sit on the rgb? You've seen how uppy-doony SA looks on my Novatouch. The error tolerance was never as tight as a Realforce.

They all look perfectly level to me. At least within a tolerance I can't readily perceive.

Do you know anything about the original manufacturer of the IBM SA caps? I'd always thought it was Comptec (and therefore SP by inheritance) ... Since Comptec wasn't around until 1983 they can't be the originals.

Love to know more of this history.

Or hope this project works out to have some injection mold instead of 3D printing.

!!!
Antique desk, antique telephone, antique radio - all can serve modern functional despite its age.
Antique workstation - parsimonious package settings if that is for real modern use and not just a monitor stand.
Keyboard and mouse setup - someone with highly optimized ideals.
Desk faces the windows with blinds closed - overseeing with a touch of secrecy.

Now I am curious about how 7bit looks like. :geek:

Pretty sure that is a Tipro with staggered layout and two narrow side-Tipros.

Can't think of the other use for the pos keys, though double MX black pos keys can be quite heavy to press.
My thinking is to swap in MX red or Gateron clear.
Of course if it is only a one-time dress up for the board then one shouldn't bother about swapping switches.

The R4 R2 (vs R4 R3) bottom rows setting on the Hyper7 is actually good for the thumbs.
