I've had this Model F battleship for sale for a couple of weeks now. I haven't gotten much interest with it in its current state so I decided to clean it up and see if that helps at all. Nothing drastic to see here, just a very thorough cleaning and some new foam.

Lovely. It's amazing how well these IBMs clean up. Looks like new.

Looks like you did a good job on it.

If you put a sheet of some sort of foam under the plate on the metal case it cuts down the echo of the case quite a bit and also between the top plastic case and the plate mainly between the numbers and the F row ( just a tip from someone who uses an F122 in an open office)

My main 122 is a bit of a junker, lets take a moment for the cracked case( i have a nice one in stores :P)

To be able to use a F122 in an open office environment sounds awesome :D I'm using a 88U at work, and even thou its quite silent, I still get frustrating looks from a co-worker, who uses a Apple Magic keyboard btw, whenever I really hammer at it

How "silent" is your dampened F122? Is it on the same level as an model M?

Great work on the F122!

My Model F have received a floss mod, but the result is very limited. In an open office situation, you likely get some people upset. When my wife sits downstairs and I type, I definitely get from time to time a grumpy "stop typing so loud".
For me, the typing sound is nothing else but a symphony.

The foam just stops the reverberation in the case.

You would need to "floss mod" the springs for that.

I just noticed that that the connector's pins are so bent! Otherwise, this is a great restoration! Love how IBM boards clean up so well.
