I know its weird, but maybe somebody has the same interest aswell. :)

It's an f122 left in a room of a house since 1983.

Mhmh, how much C R I S P Y an F122 may be.... I'am wandering how come J, K and N, M, keycaps are so dirty. Maybe in '90s, videogames were played with such keys instead of today WASD?

That doesn't look like dirt from usage; probably that area was more exposed to the elements than the rest of the keyboard.

That said, some old Apple ][ programs used IJKM for the arrows, but wasn't the case in programs running on IBM hardware.

WOAH.

That plate looks to be beyond saving, and makes me fear for the PCB as well. Is the case in one piece and unbroken? Could this keyboard be put back into service?

Worst case scenario, (case and) caps should be salvageable and cleanable, and would make for a great "before and after" pair of pics.

I think it will be ok with some TLC :) Plate looks like it will be pitted even after sanding though.

Sometimes it's the hidden grossness that'll get you.

https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/com ... sob_story/

I can appreciate the seller's transparency but I don't think I'd be able to look past "the implication".

Going to start requesting blacklight pics from now on

This may not be as conclusive as you may think. ;) It's not just semen that glows, finger prints and other smudges can show up under blacklight.

While I second the fear that the pcb might be damaged, this board is still super recoverable! The plates can be sanded and repainted pretty easily. Great find, Ive found 6 F XT's for practically free so far but still not a single F122 :p

Ugh, that is truly disgusting. I have had boards come to me filled with hair, nail clippings and old food, but never quite to that degree. I really hope it's not too far gone to save. model Fs can really take a beating and keep working though, so I assume you would have no trouble getting it working. Good luck!

Reasonable. Just hope the PCB is still positive, I havn't go that deep. Case is still in good condition except the dust as I can see. Will update as finished.

Interesting, unfortunately im not the discoverer, just a normal buyer who paid a nice price. Admittely no idea what's like inside under the keycaps before payment.

Is it possible to recover the switches like this condition?

some of the springs were rust powder inside the switches. The caps were the only thing I was able to recover.

Hopefully you save that metal case. A bit of sandblasting, a paint job and new switches this would be a keeper.

So... I stole this model F for $20 from the Nashville recycle center. Was missing a space bar and stab wire so I had to rebuild one.

Switchplates are almost certainly toast but the rest is totally savable. I speak from experience.
