The Dell looks quite handsome on that shade of desk. Used to see more of those in the past. Dells too.
I’m guessing Deskthority’s headers are closed to new submissions thanks to the absentee issue?

Misread that as the only
MY Custom on Deskthority and could suddenly see the Matrix. You had me for a moment there.

Fixed my mistake
That would be truly deranged haha. I hate MY with a passion, its not even funny. (Thats surely not attributed to the fact that I rammed a loose MY slider into my thumb when I pulled the caps off a CompacTA 600 DS
)

Thanks guys
Also really in love how it feels / types. The only "fuck up" is, that somehow, after I tested everything & soldered the complete board, the backspace stab has become somewhat jammed up in there & and I cant really explain to myself why. So I will have to desolder all switches again to get to the stabs
I will use that chance to swap in different switches probably and use the polycarbonate plate instead of brass, to get a bit of flex into that chassis cause rn, its as hard and stiff as ...... a rock

Sometimes, you just gotta have a little
give.
Where'd you get that tasty case from, btw? It's a modern looking TKL with a soul.

Its called the Class 80 and it was a limited time Group Buy.
Its from MM Studio and I ordered mine via candykeys.
Iam afraid its already over
but I heard in their discor that there will probably a round 2

Nice. I’m, ah, just curious. Don't give me costly ideas. Because you know I'd want to put something special inside it…

too late for that, I suppose haha !
I wonder if someone tried stuffing in a custom plate and pcb inside the case. I wonder how an alps based board might sound in that tank of a chassis

soooo you know how I said I would love an alps based board in there ?
Well Round 2 was just announced and I just found out their prototype had native alps compatibility
I hope it stays that way for the final version. If so, I will get a new pcb and plate to swap into my R1 case
Thinking of either putting in greens or dual stage modded oranges

Keep us appraised. Depending on the household finances I may (or may not) be up for joining the second round.

An
update to the Alps64. Here's what it really looks like now with a fresher spacebar:
- Alps64 AEK caps.jpg (717.67 KiB) Viewed 17577 times
- Alps64 AEK caps 2.jpg (1.53 MiB) Viewed 17577 times
Or rather, what it looked like before I tried a little something with this:
- ZenithSupersport.jpg (1.32 MiB) Viewed 17577 times
Someone reminded me of this Zenith SuperSport keyboard module I had languishing in the drawer of forgotten projects. Right enough, Alps integrated dome is far from good. But those caps are nice. How about giving them a try on blue Alps?
- Alps64 comparison.jpg (857.65 KiB) Viewed 17577 times
Well, they're not the same profile, that's for sure. Let's pop more of them on.
- Alps64 Zenith 1.jpg (1.65 MiB) Viewed 17577 times
That's better. Not perfect, obviously, as the Zenith's bottom row and my HHKB-layout Alps64's top row are both too weird—and don't even get me started on ANSI versus Big Ass Enter—but this colourway works much better with the alu case.
- Alps64 Zenith 2.jpg (1.39 MiB) Viewed 17577 times
Finally some closure at the back as well:
- Alps64 Zenith backside.jpg (1.08 MiB) Viewed 17577 times
So this is what I’m rocking for the day.
- Alps64 Zenith on the desk.jpg (1.12 MiB) Viewed 17577 times

If this was just a complete set, I'd really dig it. Much prefer to have some tasty contrast between mods and alphas on my boards. I don't notice a difference in sound between these ABS Alps doubleshots and Apple's PBT dyesubs, but the feeling on the fingers is definitely distinct and quite agreeable. Don't think I'll keep them on for long, though, as I don't want to wear them out.
Listening to those Control and Option keys just now—the former ABS and the latter PBT—thin ABS is lower pitched on blue Alps than thick PBT. There's more reverb, too. This wee board's already mad clicky, loud and proud thanks to its alu case and plate, so the caps aren't a profound difference; but side by side there is some there.

That fresh spacebar looks waaaay better on there. Makes me really excited about finally completing my 4pplet ISO AEK project

God, Zenith caps look so good on that board. Those blue sub-legends are just something else with the alu case. Looks really sharp.
Gives me confidence, that my blue alps custom project iam planning with my (german) supersport caps will turn out great.
I get you wanting to not abuse those caps until they loose some of the lettering, but those caps were meant to be typed on !
Would be a shame if they dont get the chance to

Indeed! It's actually just shine I’m bothered about. I shine up ABS real quick. The legends should be quite safe with me. The top legends are doubleshot, so more or less immortal, while all the front printed caps I have are just fine. I suspect they're only ever damaged by long nails, which I do not have.
Good luck with the tasty sounding custom project. I can vouch for blue Alps in a metal plate and case. Definitely match your layout to your available caps. I’m kinda stuck with AEK caps because of this. Just be warned of those fiendish Alps stabs on Big Ass Enter if you're using one of those. Worst fight I've ever faced!

metal case and plate is something I wanna try out as well, but right now Iam going a route a bit different - polycarbonate case with pom carbon fiber plate , excited how it plays out.

already did so. plates should be a perfect fit, even for the iso enter that is non standard I think. Havent actually test fitted it cause iam leaving for my holiday this year tomorrow
