As to the format, I don't usually do auctions, but apparently someone here thought I was 'kicking myself' for not putting up the last one as an auction, lol. To be honest, I was perfectly happy to get my asking price on the last one as a buy-it-now, but hey let's try an auction for the fun of it.

Gotta say I am curious to see how much this one goes for. I feel like the price I paid was relatively fair.

I second that. All white is a tad boring on these. It's fairly easy to track down black Selectric keys at least.

Thanks guys. Well, DT is fickle, and with good reason. Each of us collects or enjoys these old keyboards for their own personal reasons. Some are into the nostalgia of having an all original piece in pristine condition, others go full-out mod crazy, and I guess I am somewhere in between, lol.FXT wrote: ↑ Their loss, I think it looks great.

The angle the APL symbols have on the 4 and 9 keys heavily suggests these are, indeed, on the stickers and not on the keys themselves.consolation wrote: ↑https://www.ebay.com/itm/APL-Keys-for-u ... 2f159fbc42

Stickers. These keys go to an ssk. The same seller posted an ssk with actual apl keys which I previously shared here.depletedvespene wrote: ↑The angle the APL symbols have on the 4 and 9 keys heavily suggests these are, indeed, on the stickers and not on the keys themselves.consolation wrote: ↑https://www.ebay.com/itm/APL-Keys-for-u ... 2f159fbc42

Most of the APL symbols were applied as stick ons. A few were cast as part of the keys.

He also removed the listing for the SSK with APL keys
Edit: Looks like the bidding for the DisplayWriter is already over what I paid for mine and the auction still has 6 days to go.
Thank you. Two of those boards came from members here on DT.Brett MacK wrote: ↑ Wow that is a great little collection. I think Both color schemes look pretty cool, but there is just something about the all white look that is an eye grabber.

Yeah I’ve got a feeling this one is going to go for crazy money because of all the hype and there hasn’t been one on eBay in quite a while. I wonder if this is going to be the new price trend for these old beam springs.FXT wrote: ↑He also removed the listing for the SSK with APL keys

My guess is leaf spring as there is no curve to the case as with most Peerless I've seen. If you don't want it, please let me know where to get it...

Will someone please explain how this escalated so quickly?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Display-Wr ... 3497295650
I mean, I could see it ending up there, but there are still 5 days to go!
I will gladly sell one for $1K which is apparently below the going rate. PM me if interested.

I swear beamsprings on eBay these days are like a cow dropped into a river full of piranhas. I'm glad I got one of your beamspring keychains, Orihalcon, before the going rate goes up to $50 per switch. At least this way I can imagine what it must feel like to type on one.

IMO it appears to be basic economic principles at play. By raising the price early on the serious bidders reduce the total number of buyers and increase their chances of getting a scarce product in short supply. Consumers are probably predicting they will be increasingly harder to get in the future.orihalcon wrote: ↑Will someone please explain how this escalated so quickly?

As the bid history shows, lately there have been two bidders competing to lead the auction.orihalcon wrote: ↑Will someone please explain how this escalated so quickly?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Display-Wr ... 3497295650
Bidder u***u (23) has a bidding record (30 days' summary) of bids on sales of 4 different sellers all in similar categories, while bidder w***c (2) has not put any bids on other items in the last 30 days. That could make him suspicious given his low feedback.
However, as the autobid view of the bid history shows, they have been really competing, alternately overbidding eachother (with real bids, not only with autobids) several times.
And on 15 Feb 2018 at 6:07:58PM PST, when after several increments w***c reached u***u's maximum autobid of $1000 (which according to eBay's terms had priority, having been put first), thus being informed how much it was, he immediately put a new (and of course) higher bid to take the lead.
So this appears to be a "normal" bidding war.

I found this guy selling a complete Apricot PC. Anyone know if the keyboard is worth getting? According to my swift research it's apparently mechanical. Seller is asking roughly $120 for everything (monitor, computer and keyboard).

Thanks. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apricot_PC#Technical_data) the "Apricot PC" features a mechanical keyboard, and the description looks to match the board I pictured.Blaise170 wrote: ↑Looks like wiki/Key_Tronic_foam_and_foil based on the LED.snufflecat wrote: ↑I found this guy selling a complete Apricot PC. I was hoping for it to reach around the $800 mark, but not till near the end of the auction. As a long-time eBayer, this high early bidding defies logic, but I'm certainly not complaining.
