Bah! Believe me, they're overrated. I've got a NeXTstation and it's very disappointing. It's all part of that Steve Jobs reality distortion super-hype. I'd rather play with my Amiga 500.

What are these like feel wise?
Bizarelly, even though I have a *heap* of keyboards, apart from the HHK2 they are all PS/2 or *something more exotic*. I need a new USB keyboard.

Apparently they have 'creamy key action'!!!!

http://allthingsergo.com/blog/reviews/g ... rd-review/
I got one of those (the other one of them from that page that is sold), and even though the handle is listed as being broken I managed to prop it up and have it keep there for a bit. I did, however, drop it the same day I received it and now the handle is completely broken off; really crappy piece of design if you ask me.

The keyboard in 'flat mode' actually makes my shoulders hurt a great deal more then with a normal layout keyboard, so I stopped using it. The rubber domes are very very light, wish I had some coins to test them, and have a rubber-y squishiness at the bottom.
Also, the layout is pretty weird, kind of between an American (with long right shift and long enter) and UK (with the placement of the £ sign above the number 3); and also the windows key is miles away from your normal touch typing area and not well placed at all (in my opinion).
I actually have 'modded' mine by taking the hinge completely out and taking the excess cable out of the keyboard to allow for the two halves to be placed further away from each other. This is actually a much better set-up for me.

Planning to build your own split keyboard?
These could be interesting for you:

They consist of two distinct PCBs, each with a 7x8 matrix, and have plate-mounted Cherry blue switches.
Their relengedable keycaps are very similar but not identical to those of Tipro keyboards.

Pics of one I have:

Now, that looks cool! But £15 for postage?!

Have you done anything with it like stick a custom usb controller in? Also, are they all 1 unit keycaps except the long vertical one by the number pad at the bottom right?

I haven’t done anything with it, I had just bought it (yellowed and ugly) on eBay for cheap out of pure curiosity

It (at least mine) has only this one double key cap, but sitting on two normal switches.

You can also have a look there (much better photos than mine):

Thanks for the information, I am very tempted on the same grounds.

Just now trying to justify (to myself and my partner) why I ought to get yet another keyboard to screw around with :P

Worse comes to worse I would have a cheap source of Cherry MX Blues.

I love my turbo colour slab. It's like a super-time-warped version of OS X. For Amiga stuff I just load up an emulator. ;)

OpenStep is the future! In fact, NeXTStep's descendants and Linux's are already the present when you look at mobile. Who would have thought it back in the 90s!

I noticed a US seller has some old apparently Keytronic boards, including a German one, and a curious but tragically damaged "IBM" (surely not) thing.

Before you guys go and buy these G80-1800s for a group buy from eBay... my entire basement is still full of those. Probably at least 50. I would be willing to let them go at 5 Euros each

New thread: good idea. But the inventory bit may take some time…

That's a bit of a git, I didn't realise there were other keyboard nerds in Slough :D. I didn't even see it, it went for a bit more than I'm willing to pay these days anyway.
