Since the last update was promising, I thought it might be worth a bump here in case there is new movement on the project...

That honestly looks amazing. I read the thread for the first time (new member) and I'm stunned by what members of this board are capable of. Is this being sold at all?

Could go well on a new Model F...

Sorry to bump this old thread, and I hope the OP is doing ok, but I’m wondering if there are any recent sources for spherical Model M compatible caps?

Ellipse made an IC last year for doubleshot SA-like caps but it seems there wasn't enough interest. I certainly would have bought multiple sets (given ISO-DE compatibility).

Sadly nothing else.

Oh, I didn’t see that :( I would have bought multiple sets too.

So it looks like DIY is the only option but I have no idea how you’d create the thin stems robust enough to not break.

Couldn't you just use regular Model M stems and only manufacture the caps?

How would you go about it, 3D printing or something else?

I’ve never made keycaps so I don’t know unfortunately, but if they were made to fit over existing key stems then it sounds like it would be easier.

How about getting some existing spherical keycaps and machining out the inside so they would slot over a stem?

They'd not really slot though since in many cases the dimensions would be all wrong.

There have been some efforts of making a BS to Cherry MX adapter, basically a BS stem with a cherry mount on top.

I don't know if they ever got anywhere, I can't find the post at the moment. If I remember right it also had the disadvantage that the resulting keys were a couple millimeters taller than regular BS caps.

Edit: Here and here

That’s an interesting idea!
