Case Question

I'm looking at using a sandwich case for my build. I have been advised that a good thickness above the switch layer is around 7.5mm so that the top plate will cover the bottom of the keycaps. I know about the pluses of an "open" concept switch layer and of using standoffs to mount the top plate, but I want a more finished look.

I was thinking of using colored acrylic for this layer but I'm not finding any in this thickness. Anyone done this? Can anyone point me to a source? I would be willing to cut it out myself, so it doesn't necessarily have to be a place that cuts it out, but I'm open to that.

McMaster has a bunch of colors but none in that exact thickness. You could always stack a couple different sheets to get somewhat close. Ex: 1/4" colored with a 1/16" layer of clear on top for ~7.9mm.

Thanks jsheradin, I'll check it out.

I am also wondering if anyone has had a graphic or some text engraved on their case? How did that go and what kind of cost is involved?
