I agree with Chzel, HAL made one really nice pic !

Yeah, I was going to nominate that one if Chzel hadn't beat me to it. When I saw the shot earlier in the year, I knew HAL had a contender for his second win of this award!

HAL ! No questions asked.

No offence, but the main subject on the picture should be an input device, not HAL's face!

(or maybe we should have an other award for keyboards related pictures?)

The human touch did him well last year. That's why that picture is my favourite to win this year, too. Keyboards can look great by themselves, but there's no sense of story without a person in the frame.

Yeah, and already last year I felt like the photo was awesome, but not a "input device photo" though. :)

Agreed, there's too little "input device" in that shot IMO.

Oh, cmon, with that logic Pompom58's Goupil shot that Mu proposed is predominantly a cable photo?
In HAL's pic almost half the frame is the keyboard, and it's in the foreground! In our face (and HAL's)! And the feeling is there!

Besides, last year I did nominate a cable shot by Paranoid. No objections then! A crop of it has been one of DT's brighter headers for well over a year now.

My nomination is Mµ and his shot of Round5 :

Round5 is something so "DT" and this photo is everything this GB was supposed to be, Mµ captured the essence of it.

Thanks! I think it's the best picture I took this year. Right on the day Round 5 arrived.

Nominations close tonight? Here's a thread to sift through for the year's best pics:

No self nominations, eh? Even after all that! Well, suggestions from the same sources if anyone else takes a fancy… It is definitely harder to be objective about your own pictures than other people's. So let other people pick! I'm, um, just assisting…

So are we allowed self nominations or not? :!:

Also, I gotta say that wlhlm's Nixdorf is in fact my Nixdorf. Still his photo though

No, we're not. But let's backstratch around the rules like good democrats! What pictures of yours do you think deserve a nomination? You can see mine in the spoiler above.

I'm sure that this category needs a relaxation of the ban on self-nomination. Next year I propose we allow one picture's worth of self-nomination each. Then we can resort to horsetrading like usual!

Lying remains lying even if you cross your fingers behind your back.
Or in other words: a rule does not consist only of its wording itself,
but also of the specific objective it has been set for.

Gosh, I feel so old-fashioned at times…
