I'd like to nominate the IBM 29 Keypunch keyboard / Univac 1701 because it's a great discovery and so unusual even for a relic from a technical standpoint:

Very good Andy! Then again you never know. And you know this won't be the end of it here, there are a few particular people missing sofar.

In my mind (yes, a very Cherry-centric mind) there are two finds that are right at the top.

One of them is the Olivetti SBU that ramnes posted (I wouldn't have nominated myself) since that is the one and only full ANSI Olivetti original Cherry dyesub set in the hands of a collector.

The other find is scottc's 10x NIB Cherry G81-3000SATs. The pics speak for themselves. The keyboards he found make up about 91% of the G81-3000SATs in the hands of collectors today. :

I would have nominated it for best discovery of all time too, not just within 2015. At least within DT & GH anyway..

I just have to nominate Mµ/HzFaq again now for the NeXT boards. That one was a amazing find and he managed to organise also a mini GB/proxy action.

These keyboards share an important role in computer/input devices history 8-) And best of all these are functional usable boards, and in my book these are better than any other :D
Edit: credited HzFaq as the original spotter ;)

HzFaq gets a credit as the one to tip me off. I suspect we haven't much of a chance against HaaTa's horde and Snuci's stash (ever get the feeling the real collectors just open the doors on old finds right around awards season…) but the nice thing about the NeXT's is sharing the fun of course. There will be several happy NeXT owners come spring.

Sounds like a job for… The Wiki!

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Keyboards_by_brand

No NeXT there. And it'll be a while before I have my hands on those. You can beat me to it! The NeXT keyboards we bought are all the same kind, in a few different languages. That's one of them in the photo above.

I take the photos, Seebart puts them in the Wiki, if he agrees. I have some extras too so I'll check if they are all the same.

I got my NeXT boards locally for, well, a very good price. (Sorry if I outbid anyone - I only wanted one but my sniper bought two!)

I'm surprised by just how much I like them. They're delightful in an almost perfect layout. I wish there were an extra key under "Power" since I do use the "End" key fairly often. The photos don't really do them justice: they are a wonderful dark charcoal gray, not black, and extremely solid, well built little boards. Somehow black Alps feel better in this board than an AT101.

I've got some other boards at home. Let me see if I can dig through my Keypocalypse archives and get some good photos since time is running out. :evilgeek:

I looked through the Keypocalypse spreadsheet for some interesting finds. Maybe some of these aren't so new but these are the gems of the Keypocalypse haul from elecplus.

8 keyboards below.

HP 98203B terminal keyboard

Sperry/Unisys spherical terminal keyboard, foam and foil (andrewjoy has one of these as well)

Lucky Andy getting that ANSI space invader. Not to turn this into a sales thread, but if you're looking for a home for the old Cherry, I may have ideas for it…
