And I voted for the M2 (among other things like KFC products), because while I'm actually impressed by the level of cost engineering, the damn things are unreliable, and I've got one where the matrix is messing up badly...

Flexible all-rubber keyboards have been around for quite a while now and there are several more types than the Fold-2000, so it is hardly unique. They could have a place in industrial or medical environments: They are not objectively bad just because they are bad for regular computer users.
