I sold some beamsprings here a month ago but still kept a few for myself, and I don't plan to sell them unless I am in a desperate financial situation. And I know there are many others here with multiple beamsprings who will adamantly not sell them despite current prices, including those with rarer models than the standard 5251/3278/displaywriters that are commonly being sold.

I'm just thankful that all beamsprings have relatively funky layouts (for my ANSI layout loving self, anyway). It gives me just enough of a wedge in my mind that I don't feel the lack of them TOO much. Though I am slightly still kicking myself that I missed out on one that went for $280 when I had the chance a few years ago. At the time it was just too extravagant (I got three F-122s for under $100 apiece in those days).

Not sure if brown Alps or brown from tar. You be the judge. It looks like this thing sat through 30 years worth of Marlboro's.

Bet it will go for quite a bit. I won't be bidding, but I know there's been a lot of demand for Brown ALPS lately. Last Brown ALPS videowriter at auction went for $380 about a month ago, though granted it was in better shape: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253572303234

Wouldn't be surprised if it broke $250.

Self serving reminder: I've got brown ALPS desoldered switches available in bulk for $4 each which is apparently a steal if they previously were bid up to $6 each on that first listing, though I get that the rest of the keyboard is there, but don't think the barrel plate, caps, case, and PCB made up a $140 difference over buying loose switches ;)

No, most certainly Cherry blacks as the Cherry RC128BM is in fact a Cherry branded Tipro keyboard (MID range, but with keycaps from the later KMX range).

The unit posted being PS/2, programming it with a 64 bit system would require a workaround:

Nah mate, that's clearly just your standard (albeit an extreme example of) yellowing from light exposure. If it were dirt then the whole thing would be a similar colour, not just the keys. You were probably just joking but, well, I can't resist the opportunity to type out a comment to test this keyboard I'm using. (A G80 I bought from the listing I linked to above.)

It is definitely Cherry Black switches-

I'm currently waiting on some more switches to finish the the change out,I really prefer tactile clicky switches to linear.

Hahahaha. No need to be sorry! I would assume a blue logo board went in the box though.

But then again - I am assuming..

A keyboard with the "Options by IBM" branding means it was manufactured by Lexmark and so dates to the early to mid 90's. The keyboard in the listing is an earlier Model M which was manufactured by IBM.

Ah thank you! I can't see very well so I couldn't really see the badge on the box lol it's pretty blurry.

I have already bought one of these, and it is quite nice. The switches could probably use a good cleaning, but a very interesting keyboard.

That looks amazing! Shame about the missing keys and space bar. The space bar especially will be impossible to replace, I'd think.

The Model M on the box has a blue label on it, so i would assume that yes, a blue label was originally in the box

I bought one as well. The pictures don't really do the keycaps justice, they are a nice bright orange. I agree your sentiment about cleaning the switches, mine really don't feel very nice. I have a 3M D-5000 with almost identical switches that doesn't feel very nice either. I look forward to seeing how they behave after a nice bath.

Since when have beamsprings been going for 1.2k and 1.4k? I swear before that Displaywriter keyboard sold, the previous sales were around $600.
