Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

Gotta start somewhere

As most of you already know, I recently went to a place called Computer Reset in Dallas to scrounge around for keyboards. The place was liquidating its inventory due to the owners health issues. To read more about that adventure check out my other thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22030

I grabbed over 100 keyboards, and just finished doing my inventory for all I have. I am also selling most of what I got in my thread below which will be updated soon:
viewtopic.php?f=55&t=21975&p=446059#p446059

This thread will cover the boards I decided not to post in my megasale. The reason is because some I want to keep, and others I want to sell more carefully. I would very much appreciate price estimates on what you see in this thread, because some of it I am not too familiar with. I already have estimates in mind but would like more accurate pricing.

Without further ado, let's begin.

First we have my second blue alps find this summer!
Spoiler:
A Chicony STAFF-K101 :)

This board has the best blue alps switches I have ever found. They sound marvelous, much better than whats currently in my Orion v2. I think this is because the plate somehow doesn't have any dust or filth in it, so the switches are broken in but in great condition. It's also nice to have another ANSI alps set, although this one is quite yellow. The arrow keys are thick and bold, something I don't usually see on vintage alps boards. I'm either going to sell this board or desolder the switches and put them in my Orion.
This is something I can't actually find on the wiki:

An IBM branded alps board with undamped SKCM creams.

It even has a volume knob for it at the edge of the case:

I am quite surprised I found this, such a gem considering it isn't some stupid bigass enter layout. I would definitely be keeping this for the keycaps if it were ANSI. I thought the switches were browns at first, but I was confused to see creams. They are much different from the ones found on AEK II's, with a sharper tactile bump and more pleasant typing experience. The keycaps are the best alps mount ones I have ever found, with deep IBM dyesub lettering and super thick PBT plastic. It's also one of the few IBM branded boards I see without a metal badge. As much as I like this board, I'm positively going to part with it. I don't enjoy ISO but I know there's plenty of people on DT who do.
This one isn't that exciting but the switch feel is phenomenal:

These SKCL Greens are so damn smooth it blows my mind. I actually prefer SKCL yellow, but this board makes me reconsider. I might part with this one after more time evaluating if I like these or SKCL yellow more.
This is a Cherry mount board that has the best condition caps I have:

It has nice thick Cherry doubleshots with a variation of Cherry MY that I haven't seen previously. I doubt I'll keep this, I don't appreciate vintage Cherry caps as much as others and I prefer alps and capacitive buckling spring anyway.
Some neat full IBM systems with nice switches and caps:

These were a nice find, I had to move them down from 20 feet up on the pallets. Isn't as easy as you think when each one weighs like 20 pounds
I actually grabbed one keyboard without the unit because the rest of the unit was gone. I love these alps IBM keycaps, but unfortunately the layout isn't anything I'd wanna use with my keyboards :( Sucks because the lettering and thickness is so good but the layout is incompatible with anything modern. It's nice having the units though, I would definitely sell these to anyone wanting the entire thing, because then I wouldn't have to separate systems :) I might keep the bare keyboard for myself but these three are definitely going to someone else.
I have reached the image limit, but I'll follow up with a quick post!

122 key goodness:

It's really satisfying to find stuff like this where the seal isn't broken or there is some indication that it hasn't been opened. It took a long time for me to get proper typing and seating posture down to where my wrists, back, and neck would stop hurting so I might just keep that pamphlet by my desk. I'd definitely want the 122 key as well, but once you get an F122(what I'm typing this post on) you can't go back to membrane buckling spring. So once again, this will definitely go to someone else. I also have another one that has been opened before but never used it appears:

Something that I had to do a double take on when photographing:

At first it looks like an ordinary model M NIB, but I saw M-5 and remembered that the model number is for the trackball models. With just a slight peek into the plastic, sure enough:
IMG_1569.JPG
IMG_1569.JPG (97.4 KiB) Viewed 12326 times
I was so happy when I saw that the NIB model M was one of the trackball models. I haven't removed it from the plastic even to take pictures, better to preserve the NIB freshness!
Some better shots of the sealed SDL cable:

IMG_1572.JPG

This thing is cool, I might want it for myself but since its not a model F I probably won't appreciate it enough. So once again I will most likely be sending this to someone else. Part of the reason why I didn't remove it from packaging any further.
Another NIB gem:
Spoiler:
An in box model F XT! (But not new :( )

I know its not new because I took a closer look at the keys and something was smudged on a couple. I think it was used then put back in the box. It's still great to finally have an OG model F box on my hands, I actually like seeing it in box on my shelf rather than using it at all. If someone wants this, I'd be willing to part with it.
More 122 key fun:
Spoiler:
Normal IBM brand 122 key sealed:

IMG_1580.JPG

Condition upon visual inspection on this board looks to be new, but it clearly isn't the OG box. Still very nice, but I'll be parting with this as well. I'm sure someone else would enjoy it more. Did I mention both me and my dad hate packing peanuts? Makes an ungodly mess.

I saw a couple boxes of these when I was there and grabbed both of them. I'll list them sometime this weekend, I'm probably keeping ten or so for myself for custom vintage cables. It's awesome to get a vintage coiled cable that isn't all stretched out or covered in sticky ink and melted plastic.

A really cool piece to have on my shelf, but that isn't fair when someone else could be typing on it. I think it uses Cherry M7 switches, which I mistook for hall effect when I first starting pecking on it because they are smooth. The keycaps are monstrous too, big ole doubleshots. This one isn't going to be cheap, but I definitely want it to end up in someone else's hands.

The condition is good on this one for what it is. None of the keys are stuck except the spacebar(I'm positive this is an easy fix) and none of the keycaps are missing. There aren't even any paint chips. I am very undecided on this one, I have wanted a beamspring, but I would probably be using my model F"s or alps boards most of the time. The switch feel is excellent, but for clicky switches nothing beats my F122 imo. I am so glad I found this, not so I can keep it but because I found one. I have always wanted to be able to say I found a beamspring in the wild. I don't like the ISO enter, if someone had a different beamspring to trade I might be interested. If I do sell it I'm going to be very picky on who I sell it to. It definitely wouldn't go on ebay. I'm sure it would sell for a lot over there, but profit isn't my main concern.

That's all unless I find some more cool stuff tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I've grabbed everything there at this point
If anyone is interested in what I have here and wants to buy or trade for it, go ahead and PM me. But keep in mind in this scenario its not a first come first serve type ordeal even if your message is first I might sell it to someone else. Don't get your hopes up. I'm telling you this now.
There are multiple reasons for this, I don't want this stuff to go to people that already have a shitton and are just gonna throw it in a closet with the others. Some of it might go into my sale thread later and in that case its a different animal. I like to see this stuff used and appreciated, but once its sold to you I don't have any say or control over what you do with it(obviously). The only thing on this list that might already be spoken for is one of the NOS AT assemblies and I am leaning towards keeping the blue alps for myself.
For trades, I like alps stuff, looking for more ambers(SKCM) or maybe even neons(not looking to make a car payment) and anything else alps is very much appreciated(especially switches and ANSI keysets). I also love model F's, looking for some 4704 variants or another Unsaver. An XT EMR keyboard wouldn't hurt either, or anything that is unique or uncommon. I'd like a smaller beamspring layout if possibly, but I know that's a tall order. I even like some Cherry stuff, especially korean customs and other cool stuff. Worst case scenario is me saying no thank you.

Thanks for sticking with me this long, it took the better part of an afternoon to take all these pictures and make this thread. Price estimates and feedback is very much appreciated. I hope you all enjoyed this, I can only hope I'll have more to share in the future.

I love this thing. I'm actually typing this post on it since it works with a AT to PS/2 adapter. I don't appreciate Cherry as much as I should, but this thing has gorgeous keycaps as well as ANSI layout.
I can't tell if these keycaps are dyesub or lasered, but my money is definitely on dyesub, because I can't feel the legends and they look dyesub to me.
Price check on this board and keycaps would be awesome! I have about 50 of these white boxed NIB keyboards. Not all are vintage Cherry MX blue though, some are a type of linear foam and foil and others are some clicky black Cherry MX clone switch. All except the foam and foil variant feel great, because its all new in box!

This one has doubleshot caps and some odd clicky cherry MX clone switch. I'm guessing its a clone since I don't see any Cherry branding on it.
This one has a BAE layout, but I think most of these are ANSI. I'm so glad they are all Cherry mount keycaps, otherwise some wouldn't be worth much. If anyone can identify these switches that would be very helpful!

Another one of these IBM model M's with the terminal style keycaps! This one has a full set, and even though its a little filthy, that can all be solved with a little cleaning.
I'm definitely putting a set of these on my Unsaver, I have plenty so others can share in the rarity! It's funny how many of these Model M's are filthy put back in a box with packaging. Warranty returns maybe?

Another quick shot of the IBM compatible boards with doubleshot instead of dyesub keycaps. Doubleshot or dyesub, these are the best Cherry keycaps I have found in the wild. Mainly because they are NIB but they also remind me of Wyse keycaps but in standard ANSI, and I love Wyse keycaps.

This thing is in such crappy condition, I left it there on my second trip. I decided to grab it this time, because I always wanted a plate spring. I'm not sure what I can do with it, since some of the switches are actually gone. The keycap set is laughable because 6 caps are missing and I would have loved to find this with everything intact. You don't always get what you want
I have some thoughts about how to make this work in a board, but even though the caps are alps mount, the PCB stabs aren't standard alps according to the wiki. Would I have to do handwire to make a modern board? Thoughts are very much appreciated. Either way I'm glad I grabbed it.

I don't think this one is new but the keycaps get me excited. Switches aren't exciting but I really think these are vintage Cherry dyesubs!
I have quite a few of these so if they are dyesubs its very good news. This one has some shine on it but that's good because the lettering hasn't faded at all so the chances of it being lasered or pad printed decrease dramatically.

The history I get with some of this stuff is great. Someone just gave up and threw this XT assembly in a box because it came apart and he didn't want to deal with it. For me its easy to access flippers and barrels.
I have another one of these in this state without a box. Had to pick up flippers that spilled out on my driveway when I was moving it

Honestly life is too good at this point, I cannot believe I found these.
They are the blue label Lexmark variant I believe, but the keyfeel is much better than my SSK. They even come with a brand new SDL cable as well.
I wonder, has anyone ever found SSK's in this condition on either of the forums? I feel like a find like this is something that's marked down in history.
I feel like I earned it though, I had to unearth 300 pounds of PCjr crap to find these. The third large box I found was under the filthy and dusty(and I mean really dusty) crawlspace between pallet stacks. Its the picture you see in my post further down.
I am so glad I found these because I get to share them with this whole community.

It's amazing that I found all this, but now I need your help. I need price checks. It takes forever to list stuff when you have no idea what its worth. I am mulling over a fair price for the find above, but the community's input would be a great help.
It would be insanely easy to just list all this on ebay at auction and let the money come. But I want to help people in this community and not have it sell to the highest bidder.
So price checks are now a must or everyone is gonna wait a while before stuff is listed for sale. I'd also love more input and remarks regarding this thread, but thats just me wanting to type more responding to replies
I also need price check on Soft touch model M's, because I can't find examples of it anywhere and I have a few.

So anyone here lurking, now is your chance to help. I'd love posts like these:
I know what these boards are worth:
board 1 $300
board 2 $100
board 3 $75
board 4 $45
board 5 $600
You can PM about stuff you want but I'm not selling anything here yet because I still have enough work dealing with my megasale as of now.

Thanks for sticking with me thus far, I hope you enjoyed these posts.

I... uhhhhhhhhhghghghgh... just... WOAH.

Also, that IBM Alps keyboard is exceedingly unusual. I've seen some 5576 keyboards before, with Alps Plate Springs or Brother Buckling Springs, but not with Alps SCKL/SKCM.

Start making space for that wingnut, because if #DTA2019 does happen, you're a VERY strong candidate.

Serious question here: are those the cables used on the F AT and/or F XT keyboards? If the latter, could they be used on the IBM 5155's keyboards as well? If I'm not wrong on this, those cables could be put to good use recovering those keyboards that have had the cables cut and are sold by at least two eBay sellers as "for parts" only for this reason.

ah the 5140 systems i managed to rescue the leftovers of one of the keyboards that had been harvested for the brown alps and converted it to USB, got an acrylic case made and now i use it for work at a community centre where i volunteer. would be great to see the systems either preserved or even putting a pi in there and making a modern pc out of it. Even the layout is not that bad especially when converted and with the FN layer to put the keys where you want them. it is a shame that many of these are just gutted for the brown alps with the rest cast away.

I've more than once joked that procuring several 5140s to make a couple full size or TKL keyboards would also yield enough of the F keys (and their switches) to do a "small 60%" for kicks (for kids, whatever). Redmaus might now be in a position to do just that.

That is really cool, acrylic always looks nice when done properly. You rarely see people actually make a keyboard out of OG caps and layout, usually they just want the switches.

Price checks? Sell the NOS IBM Model M SSKs at 250 dollars each and they WILL sell fast (and list their mfg. dates as well!)

Regarding the NOS F XT with the cut cable: Orihalcon or someone else who has opened up F XT units before, please confirm that those "loose" cables (those numbering 50-ish in an earlier post) are indeed the correct ones for it.

SABRE Model M keyboards: besides the caps (which is what makes them interesting), they are the exact same thing as regular Model M units; those you got should have the part number 1393464 instead of 1391401, though. I've seen "SABRE M" keyboards (with the "proper" part number) go for as low as 60-ish and as high as 200-ish on eBay. If those keyboards are in bad shape (as opposed to just dirty), you can well sell the keycap sets only for a decent price.

(EDIT: I remember that a few years ago someone on ¿Geekhack? found a large stash of SSKs and sold them all for ¿150? bucks to GH members, but of course I can't find that thread now)
