Focus fk-2002 ‘3systems’ / ‘Esystems’ branding

Hello this is my first post here so you’ll have to bear with, but I was recently given an old keyboard that I now know is a Focus fk-2002, and when looking on it’s wiki page here I noticed that it’s branding wasn’t listed. Does this mean it’s a knock-off or something? Sorry if this is a silly question, I can attach pictures when I get home from school if necessary. Thanks!

Welcome! The Focus keyboards were popular, and many rebrands are out there. The wiki is not a complete list, only a guide based on the ones that have been found and reported by those who know how to do the entries. We'd love to see photos of your find.

Sorry haven’t had a chance to clean it up yet so it looks rather grim but here are some pictures.

As I expected, FK-2002 is the ISO variant of the FK-2001.

Nice find. Actually it looks fairly clean inside. Some Focus rebrands have a custom molded emblem, but this one just has a sticker. I'll bet it says "FK-2002" or "Enhanced Keyboard" under the 3Systems badge. It's a fairly early model, no windows keys or dummy key/backslash on the bottom row. I can't tell if the upper switch housings have an Alps logo, but they should be fairly early ones either way.

edit - looked closer and those look like unbranded upper housings. If so they should feel and sound the same as or very similar to blue SKCM switches. What's going on with the space bar? Disconnected or did someone flip it upside down?

After fiddling with it a little more, that badge pops out and on the reverse side it does say Enhanced Keyboard! Case closed I guess

Yeah they don’t have a logo on them just some numbers. I think the spacebar was just wedged back on when it was given to me because it was upside down and really easy to pull off.

Going to take some time to take the top of the keyboard off tomorrow night, I can post more pictures if that’s wanted, sorry that I seem to be dragging this out - been busy with school.

Nice. Those are, to me, the best of the white Alps switches. Nobody should be rushing you to post photos or do anything else. This should be about you appreciating and enjoying your new keyboard. I appreciate you sharing the photos and info as I'm keeping a database on the Focus models in hopes of learning more about them.

Be very careful when opening the case not to break the tabs across the front. Once the rear snaps are released, carefully hinge the top cover up at the back until you can slide it towards you far enough to release the tabs. If you hinge it up too far, or try to pry the front apart, you can break the tabs, and then there's nothing to hold the front of the case together. I came up with a fix for that on my (black) FK-2002, which also tightened up the feel and sound of the keyboard, but I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you have to.

The logo-less early Alps White switches are close to late Alps Blue switches. I compared them, same springs and switch plates, only difference are the sliders. When in good condition and paired with an excellent board, you have a F.... awesome kickass keyboard.

quick question: how thick are the caps? Most focuses that I have seen use pretty thin caps with a homing bar, similar to Tai Hao, but not exactly. These caps have a homing nipple like Alps Electric made caps.
