Is there something I’m missing about that f107 price? Why did this one go for so much money? It appears to have original cable and be unrestored, did that have something to do with it?

I think we're all just as confused.

So the thing is, if it was one weird bidder or something maybe it’s bullshit, but there were multiple bidders well over $500... I mean what are F107s actually worth? I can’t imagine more than like $600-$700 right? I am so confused.

Quick someone else list theirs and see what it goes for.

All 4704s are among the most coveted, rare boards. Why is it that surprising when at most, 2 or 3 of these are sold per year?

Even that 3278 went for just under 2300 unrestored and unconverted- and those are listed every other week (minus the white numpad keys).

It's not surprising to me that it went for over $1000. It's been a long long time since one came up as an open auction. $3000+ is surprising, but 4704 keyboards are world class, hard to find and this one even has the foot attachment, so I can see why someone might want to go all in on it. We'll have to see whether it's relisted or not, but that 3290 numberpad did go for over $2000 just a little while ago.

if you look at the f107 bidding history there are 26 consecutive bids from $1,450 to $3,550 from the same bidder before being outbid. the timestamps are weird as the winning bid from a different bidder has an older timestamp. i guess that is ebays automatic bidding feature. It wouldn't be impossible that the sale was being used to launder money.

F107, foot, foam replacement, ANSI mod, xwhatsit ... normally mine doesn't have a price tag but somehow there is a price for all material things, isn't it? Insane.

Maybe the arab oil sheicks are getting into mechs or something...

If a F107 is worth $3.000+ then I imagine that for an original F77 you should expect something like $30.000 :? .

But I won't be surprised if it only was an accidental stupid bot bidding war and we see it relisted soon. But if it's legitimate, I look forward to see what kind of feedback the buyer gives back to the seller :D .

I recall an F77 with Greek legends selling for $3750 or some similar figure as a BIN. Definitely a lot more F107's floating around but of course the one that sold recently was a prime, unmolested example. I see this as someone raising their hand at an auction and never lowering it. Someone with deep pockets wants it so will have it no matter the cost. Just like that numpad that sold for $2k. Of course with that numpad there was a second listed based on the $2k price which of course is no where aligned with the remainder of the market.

That’s nuts. 10X what it was worth last year.

12X more than I paid for mine. I think we can all agree these are not worth $3600 but certainly a bit more than they were last year. Just a classic bidding war. I wonder if the buyer actually pays. I guess we wait and see if this gets relisted.

First the $2000 Model F numpad, now the $3200 F107. This is some seriously deep pocket we're seeing here.

I'm gonna say it again no way that F107 is real. There's currently one still listed for $1500 unsold BIN on another auction website:

SMK J-M0404 linears, nice caps, and genuinely one of the nicest sellers I've ever chatted with on eBay.

I tried contacting that seller for a $500 offer, no response.
(Then again he might think I'm lowballing him.)

It's not legit, look at the guy who came second in the bid war. He has a total of 15 bid retractions in the last 6 months alone.
Probably an alt account of the seller, or someone trying to artificially raise prices. F107's should remain at around £500 - £700 value depending on condition. Even then that's pretty steep.
If we accept these new prices as the norm, you'll have no hobby left. Just bragging rights featuring a few daft cunts who think they're rich.
Even the guy who started ModelFKeyboards.com is trying to flog a bog standard NIB Model M SSK for 4 THOUSAND dollars.

This problem just keeps getting worse, and will continue to do so until the perpetrators are given the boot from these communities, but that's never going to happen.

Someone in Ohio sold a new F77 on fb marketplace for $70 last month. I was really confused by that. I was very tempted to get it but I have no excuse to buy another F.

You sure it wasn't an original F77 that they sold without awareness of what it was? :P

Of course, it could be anything. Maybe this wasn't their board but someone else's who's no longer around, but if it was sold with a clear awareness of what it was, ie a new repro, then that is odd as hell.

I mean Ellipse altered the supposed "sold" price on his website to $1400 for the F107s. I remember checking that listing on his site just a few months ago and it was no where near that amount.

It's likely he'd claim that it was a recent sale for an exceptional example, or that the prices simply weren't updated, or some other cop out, but I don't buy that. All of the prices on his site outside of his repros are exaggerated for the sake of money grubbing and generating intrigue.

In this case, it would lead potential reproduction buyers to thinking how great of a deal his new offerings are. Wow, I can buy one of those for less than half this amount? And they're more compact?

Whoa, that's a price alright.

Yeah, the reason why people want these comes in two parts:

The case, it's compatible with aftermarket PCBs that fit the 3000 footprint, so it can be pretty appealing for such builds.

The keycaps. The SAU models have dyesubs which are very desirable, though their colorway is not typical to Cherry dyesubs but a bit darker.
