That's it!

But you should ask fireglow first! He told me on IRC that he has something like 40 to sell, and he's in Germany too, so I guess you could be interested. ;)

I will do. Thanks again.

Guys, I have the solution.
You don't need new boxes for your keyboards...

You need to stop hoarding

So, keyboard sale tomorrow?
Everything (you don't need) must go! :evilgeek:

But...I don't have any keyboard I don't need...

I have loads of keyboards I don't need (most of them infact), doesn't mean I'm getting rid of them though.

I know, I know. Sometimes, you just keep them... For later. Some boards aren't worth much and it would be more trouble to sell, package and ship them than just to keep them for a currently unknown purpose.
I was about to sell a Lioncast LK20 keyboard when people pointed me to the fact that I could use the case for a Phantom... Something I had honestly not thought of. Nor do I have the parts to build a Phantom but, you know... Later

If the definition of a keyboard collector is someone who accumulates keyboards which have no specific purpose other than to be owned, then I don't think I am a collector. Don't really plan to be one either.

My keyboard plans are thus: one for work plus its backup; one for home plus its backup; one for my iPad plus its backup; one for testing Round 5a keycap colorways. That's seven. It could be eight if I decide to give a RealForce a try. But other than the RealForce, each one will be home to a specific set of keycaps, and thus highly necessary.

Wow I did not know there was a definition of a keyboard collector. :O

I couldn't sleep all night long thinking about your post, schreebles.
You have convinced me ... I will sell my old boxes when I receive the new ones. It has been a hard decision to make

shreebles - have a look at the Keypocalypse thread, and start taking notes. Sales are currently closed. They will re-open at some point.

@zslane nice filco! what is that box under your monitor, it reminds me of the old surge protectors that go under monitors. I'm sure its more useful then one of those things tho.

I think I agree. They need to have a purpose, even if it is in the future.
zslane wrote: But other than the RealForce, each one will be home to a specific set of keycaps, and thus highly necessary.
See that's the problem with this philosophy, if you do not have enough purposes for the keycaps you can just start making them up. Secondary PC, secondary PC backup, wife's keyboard, wife's keyboard backup...
Me, I rather group them by their different characteristics, and have change them depending on my mood.
If I want to type a lot, and have fun doing it - IBM. If I just wanna game all night with NKRO and no extra noise (my teammates can hear) I go with the MX Black keyboard most of the time.
If I'm a bit irritated by noise or my fingers are tired I use the ergo clears. Whatever keyboard is left over, but still decent, I bring to the office. Currently that's the Raptor K1 (G80 1800), but I'm growing weary of the PCB-mounted blacks.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say. That there are lots of people out there waiting to be hoarders? That I could become a hoarder, too?

He has a small warehouse garage full of keyboards, and would like to sell them. Which is difficult, with all us Europeans and our expensive shipping and taxes when receiving things from the USA.

Here's another reason to collect: I got some glass shelves. Can't have any empty spaces now, can I.

Boxes are the mobile version of shelves. Put in and take along.

Glass boxes sounds kinda neat. I've just some glass shelves on my IKEA billy bookcases. Which clearly need some dusting…

On show: 2 SSKs, a Kishsaver, an XT, an AT, a Model M2, a 122 key and a 102 key M, a G80-3000 with Round 5, a Hypermicro, and a boxed Realforce 87U and boxed NIB SSK. The HHKB box is empty, I keep that one in its travel case.

The shelves were originally just for my IBMs. The other boards are beginning to creep onto them now.

You might just be able to spot my anime collection and a couple of hats. The hats live on the top shelves…

Classy stash you have there, I'd put a glass panel in front to keep the dust to a minimum!

Thanks. Yeah, I had glass doors but they're too much of a pain to open up in this wee place. And even with those, everything always needs a good clean!

Meanwhile, uncharacteristically back on topic:

4k display and the damped NovaTouch in Granite that I've been typing away so merrily on of late. The old iPhone doesn't like the brightness! While my much older Canon 350D doesn't like the darkness. Ach!

The mysterious box under my monitor, meanwhile, is a long forgotten yet still pretty useful boom box. Sure, I use it for the sound, but also for the height: this is a standing desk, after all.

Thanks. I prefer it to a stash of boxes. Even if I have to blow the dust off that M122! The other boards get pretty regular use.

  • WASD V2 with blue/gray dyesub PBT keycaps in DSA profile. This is just a seat-warmer, serving as my main driver until my Round 5a Space Cadet keycaps come in and I can put them into one of my Filcos.
  • Pok3r with Dolch DSA keycaps connected to my iPad Air. Would love to someday see this connected to an iPad Pro with an Apple-sanctioned docking station.

Whats that thing on your desk , that horrible lenovo thing , i have used the ISO version and they are horrible. The slightly older IBM branded ones are slightly better but still crap.
That is because the KB-5181 does not play nice with my KVM and I need to use when I have other PC's connected. I don't think there is any way around that one, the KVM does not recognize the KB-5181 keyboard, not sure why.

I switched my board at work again!

The new workstation, went back to the old monitor with the ghetto stand as the LG one i re-capped was too low after i switched from a mac mini it was sitting on to the 2015 macbook pro retina. ( notice the thunderbolt dock ) Please excuse the vimium cheatsheet on the 122 i am trying to learn it. ( thats a model F 122 by the way none of this cheap model M rubbish)

The monitor is crap by the way, even after i have calibrated it with a SpyderElete 5 its still way off. Samsung is a bit better but it has filthy LED backlighting no CCFL :(.
