Do you confirm that 2 units 2 stems (tipro) blank keys will be available ? If yes I am a happy man.
they are not included, but we have still time to make few adjustments.

Did you receive the templates from SP? I suppose the font sizes in the last picture are not final?

I got some specs from SP few hours ago. I'll work on the final layout during the GB.

Maybe consider to add extra 10 keys to ergo kit?

But those keys are 1u and already covered by the other kits! You can put the cursor keys there, or F keys, or pro mods, or media keys...

Well if you take a look to usual ergo kit these keys are included (see round 5). Buying another kit just for that does not make sense.

Ok.
"SCRL" is worrying me, but I don't really have wise suggestion.
Except maybe try smaller font (for these three keys) and do the very standard:

Code: Select all

PRINT
SCREEN
______
SYSRQ

Code: Select all

SCROLL
LOCK

Code: Select all

PAUSE
_____
BREAK
I know it is not easy.

But which keys would you want to see there? Arrows? Mods? Symbols? Alphas? Media keys? There are so many possible combinations that there's no way we could make one set to cover them. You have to split out the 1u's.

Keep in mind that most other ergo kits are blank, so it's easy for them but not for us.

I would go for blanks as well

Posted: 17 Mar 2014, 23:22
by fifted
Then it's easy! The base kit has extra keys (in the dark gray no less) that can go in those spots. Base kit blank has 54 light (plus 2 deep dish), 20 dark 1u keys. With 2 ergo blank kits, you have a full blank ergodox! (Alphas on an otherwise blank board is tougher...)

by squarefrog
Each kit has an accompanying blank set. So you're set there. Most layouts seem to either have mods or arrows on that bottom row.

Maybe I'll order two base sets so I can have

Code: Select all

[ s ] [ q ] [ u ] [ a ] [ r ] [ e ] [ f ] [ r ] [ o ] [ g ]

Ah who am I kidding. That r/e split would make me twitch..

SP raised some concerns about copyrighted material in the nerdom kit. I'll probably have to replace some keys.

Not the kitties, I hope! :worried:

I told them the source of all keys. Zoidberg had to go. Evangelion should stay.

that's sad to ear but it's not like you have no other candidates.

I got the quote, but I asked for few changes to reduce price.

The blue enter in the mod kits turned out to be too expensive and I prefer to remove it and place it in a kit of its own.

Zoidberg has to go, sorry. I'll replace it with something else. Star wars seems not to be a problem but I guess Melissa is simply not a fan. I'll double check and eventually replace them with something else.

The full touch windowed key is available only with lens on top.

Apart from that everything looks very nice. All prices at 50 tier

Code: Select all

common txt mod icon mod numpad text pro Icon pro
$39.00 ???? ???? $27.00 $27.00 $27.00

RGB txt RGB icon RGB WASD intl 1 intl 2
$17.00 $17.00 $13.00 $9.00 $28.00 $29.00

ISO enter ISO blank Mono Mono intl homing Ergodox
$6.00 $2.00 $17.00 $13.00 $9.00 $27.00

Multimedia Nerdom Apple Full blank Num blank half-ergo
$7.00 $14.00 $16.00 $51.00 $10.00 $9.00

Add blanks Windowed 7u space 625 space Lost+found
$13.00 $12.00 $4.00 $4.00 $17.00

honestly... considering how little the ISO blank cost... I would go with that all the way down are remove the legended one.

I haven't been able to really follow what is happening here
and have completely lost track of profiles/colours/legends/icons/sets/etc.

Am I right to assume that this still is an interest check/discussion?
Are decisions made up to now recapitulated anywhere with all relevant information?

Thanks and sorry for disturbing

The prices are above.

Color cold light gray. Similar to SGI Granite or WYSE.

Thanks for the swift answer - and that is quite impressive indeed.
I reckon they will be dye-sub caps from SP, which profile(s) will they use?

What does this alter about the windowed kit, exactly? I don't quite get it.

they don't have a bottom lens in full touch 1.75u.

we have 4 1u and 1 left stemmed 1.75u with window as pictured and the full touch 1.75u has the lens on top

Ah, it's the window vs. lens terminology I don't understand then. "Top" doesn't mean what I think it does, because we can rotate the keys any which way as the legends go on later.

Anyway, added up my likely order, and at these 50 tier prices it comes to (drum roll) $180 + whatever icon mods is + shipping + taxes. I expect a few might struggle to hit that tier anyway. So keep the deadline nice and long, Matt, as I have some saving to do!

Posted: 18 Mar 2014, 11:01
by matt3o
the mods will likely go around $25. The base and mods will hopefully hit the 100 tier anyway.

Now.

- We need to remove 1u key from the numpad. Either I go full TEXT on the numpad or I remove the = sign (what would you prefer?)
- I'm keen on removing the legended ISO enter being the blank one so cheap... objections?

I think it would look weird if the iso enter is the only blank key and every other key is lettered. Also I don't think 6$ vs 2$ isn't that much more considering the price of a full set.

Posted: 18 Mar 2014, 11:25
by Muirium
I'm neutral on the numpad change, and against dropping the legended ISO return. As each ISO return is already separate "kits" they hurt no one.

Posted: 18 Mar 2014, 11:28
by matt3o
I'm just trying to concentrate fire on a single kit.

The tiers only get less interesting with higher number as the price drops decrease. And as we can see how many of each have been ordered as long as the GB is live, we can all jump ship onto one at the end if necessary. I'd be more concerned with optimisation if we all had to order blind.
