Maybe because the shipping is three times the cost of the board, not counting import taxes which could double the whole figure again? :p

That looks quite sweet with the black keys.

That was the Asian new keyboard smell. I recognized that funk, lol. But it was still a new keyboard smell.

Forgive my ignorance, I couldn't figure out how the wiring works... The rs 232 diagrams I could look up all differed from the diagrams that came with the converter.

Yeah, shipping to EU is more than twice the price of the board...and then customs on top of that...reaches about $100. I've been on the edge a while now...

Yes shipping + tax was more than the actual keyboard, kinda crazy. But I made an exception because it was NIB. No regrets on this one.

Sure, shipping is "normal" for you. It's really nice, needs to be converted of course.

Has anyone done some work to make these quieter, less "ping"-y? Perhaps putting some sort of anti-static foam in the case? The ringing of springs when typing makes this otherwise remarkable keyboard unusable for me.

Yes the "ping" noise is certainly present, keycap you and everyone else should be aware of this before you buy it. Personally it does not bother me as much as on my NEC APC-H412 where it's insane, but it is also present on this keyboard. There must be a way to at least reduce it with foam or something similair XMIT, I'll have to try out some different materials.

Depending on how much work you want to do the first things I'd try are to pack the empty space in the case with anti-static foam, to "floss mod" the springs, and to lubricate the springs. Those should all help.

Sorry for the minor necrosis, but have you or anyone else helped mitigate the pinging issues on this particular board?

Sorry I have not gotten around to it. I don't use my NEC that often although apart from the ping it's really nice. I assume your talking about the IBM Alps SKCC though right?
