I was under the impression that the Ducky keycaps was laser engraved.

The Model M13 comparison makes sense if you think about it - it's hard to properly coat heavily textured keycaps.

The "non-Otaku" ones are laser-burned with an M13-like pad print over the top. The part of the print that covers the lasered part will probably stick around forever, but the rest you can pretty much scratch off with your finger nail.
