The alps lube thread aggro lives on all right!
Did you need training to be this much of an oxygen thief, or does it just come naturally?

Looking at
yours, I can see you’re a natural… insert your own word here. You know the one I’m thinking.

... he takes valuable and unique keyboards, doesn't convert them, entombs them in a box, and places them on a shelf, only pulling them out when he needs something to ogle at and touch himself.
You know that description could apply to a lot of us ...

Today we look at the Alps wax mod, a cleaning and restoration procedure to restore dirty or damaged Alps switches. It's become pretty widely known recently, so I got a lot of requests to try it out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-IF5VmDaMg
Thanks again, for posting about the wax mod and bringing it to more people’s attention. Although it didn’t work out for you with this specific procedure. I hope you would try again possibly try several different techniques on lose switches. I plan on making a newer tutorial on my channel on the wax mod in a week or so. I would also be happy to send out a keyboard temporarily, or sample switches that I have waxed for you to try.

I've got an ultra top secret (well not really, it's just a trade secret...) lube from Japan which I use for lubing my Dell keybs. It's effects are aren't eternal, as it starts to ware off in about 9-12 months.
If Chyros wants some sample to test, he can receive it via post (send me a pm). I would love to hear his thoughts on it...

Try WD-40 Specialist with PTFE. It leaves a waxy residue on the sliders. I only used it on newer ALPS switches before though.

Likewise, there's no possible way from the demonstrations I've read and watched in videos for any wax to properly adhere to any of the plastic components. Paraffin doesn't mix or dissolve in water. In fact, water hates it which is why it's an excellent water repellant used for machine surfaces and clothing. It will form splotches on the surface of the water so it won't be evenly spread enough to contact all the parts.

This is such a silly debate.
A bunch of people have followed the (proper) protocol and reported great results.
What's more likely to you
a) it's a conspiracy - they're all lying for no obvious reason
b) it probably works quite well if you do it correctly
?
Seems it's option a.

Holy crap, people have strong opinions on this topic. I think insulting Chyrosran for doing his experiments and sharing his conclusion is toxic to the community. However, as someone with no expertise in chemistry whatsoever, I would have hoped to also see the method without the boiling water to get a trusted opinion on that as well.

Yeah, there's just something
triggering about the topic of lubing Alps, apparently. Dunno why, and glad it's not the general mood of DT.

People responding negatively to a poorly-made video that did not follow the real procedure at all is toxic, but Chyros declaring his half-assed findings as fact and dismissing everyone else as literally
lying isn't? I'm all for sucking dick but holy shit man, go outside and get some fresh air.

The amount of drama on this forum never ceases to amaze me, I wish I was able to offend people IRL as well as I appear to do here

. Doesn't REAL stuff bother you, like climate change or the pandemic, instead of some random guy rambling on about old keyboards? :p

that's a good point, why are you wasting your time making videos about keyboarding instead of something REAL? you could be making videos about climate change or the pandemic and here you are wasting your rambling on about old keyboards :p

It baffles me why someone who has done so much for this community is getting shit for 'not following instructions' to a mere 3 minute video with no real step by step, and a 'full write up' that lacks apparent critical information such as
you dont boil to clean, you clean before and then boil. also, immediately stir after putting in the wax. in best case never stop to stirr until getting parts out.
Just a thought, but maybe the original 3 minute video should be re-done in greater detail so it can be taken more seriously.

Please no talk about climate change on this forum. It's already very present, but I don't need to be reminded here of all places. Hard choice between that and toxic threads like this one tho

No, I have a dictionary, thank you very much. And either way, I don't see how that is relevant to your inability to use a computer. It's 2021, like cmon...
