You can file that tip down to the chisel shape. It will then wear out much quicker without its plating, but still last years if you use it only occasionally.

Sorry English is not my main language. By "You can file that tip down..." mean reshaping the tip?

Oh thanks. Got it. Anyway it seems that biggest hurdle is to unbend the pins of some switches without damaning the pcb connectors, what's the best technic for this?

hey max, unbending the pins is always the biggest problem for me as well. I haven't found a decent way to do it though. If I had extra hands I would keep the contact heated so the remaining solder is in liquid form and then you can bend the pins without pulling the pcb stuff. I don't know how thick my solder is, I'll have to take a look :p but that doesn't really matter unless it's reaaally thick and 1mm is still reasonable I think :)

I got hold of a tool that actually use when i heat the pins. The ortek has a small pcb thats why i was thonking of switching to a smaller thick solder.

the solder I'm using now is 0.7mm. It works quite well for me. I'm used to work with thicker ones but for soldering full boards they both worked equally well :) what kind of tool do you use? I just use some small pliers I found in my girlfriends manicure set :p

Anyway how can i get the black cable in the right to change the connector like the one in the left? i'm trying to use the spare parts around here to mod the ortek. This black cable is really nice.
