ohw that usb-B is huge..
Would be less "retail"-like but i'd hardwire that cable or put the connector internally; alternatively use micro-usb?

If you don't want to carry the board arround, installing a non-removable cable becomes an option.
I'm quite happy with USB-B because the sockets can handle some abuse (and I didn't had any othe sockets around for testing the footprints). Using pure SMD sockets bears the problem to rip-off all connected pads....

Any update on this lately? I'd love to get one of these. My 1800's controller has become flaky.
