Great :) gossip!

Doubt anyone will post this side of the fence and anything that side will be deleted.

I found DanGWanG was absolutely right in claiming that the same rule has to apply to both negative AND positive posts in a sales thread, and that both must be allowed or both must be considered threadcrapping.

This reminds me of a discussion here on DT a few days ago:
http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/ ... t4970.html
where the seller didn't appreciate critical comments, which is quite understandable of course, but reacted the "GH way"
and in the end chose to have is account and his posts deleted (I'm glad I had quoted some of them  )

That's all the difference between DT and GH: no censorship here.
I'm not sure whether the community feeling is the reason or the result of this. Probably both

Totally agree.

There is so much wrong over at GH, I wouldn't know where to begin with.
They opened somewhere a thread "commercialism vs community" and some of the members had...displeasant views of things...

I'm happy here on DT. I can act the way I am and receive little to no BS for it. No swear filters, no mods, a healthy environment.

The duck feeds us all we need :D

This.

Sometimes DT feels like some sort of irritated geezer collective to me because of people having "strong" opinions and expressing these, but... I like it that way (why else would I still be here? :>). You should be allowed to discuss stuff on a forum (isn't that what a forum is about?), even though everyone doesn't necessarily have the same opinion about everything.

as mostly a GH user, the only reason I use GH over DT is the way the forums are laid out... its alot easier to navigate and fapp to pics of other people's boards... it just seems such a shame how some of the modding dessions seem to be going

GH keeps sucking more and more. I liked the pre moderation era so much more. Back when you could post any thoughts you wanted in any thread, and before it was marketplacehack. Sure sometimes a thread would devolve into an absurd flame war, but I was entertained. Get tired of posts and sometimes even entire threads disappearing for no reason. Like my 'seppaku saturday' posts in off topic... I thought it was hilarious, but they got removed for 'bad taste/offensive' lolwut?
I don't get the whole push for protecting profiteering assholes and the disneyfication. Also if moderators can't be impartial even against people that rub them the wrong way personally and keep thier personal interests seperate, they should not be a moderator at all.

The best way of showing what you think is to quit.

I lurk more here on DT than on GH. I do however, attempt to keep a good name over on GH, because of the group buys and classifieds over there.

All good group buys now happen here at DT.

GH is only required for legacy support (Round 3/4) and can be switched off once everything has shipped.

If everyone displeased with GH didn't take part in the GH groupbuys there would be less of them on GH

Most groupbuys on GH you can take part in without an account. They do it all through Google docs.

GH was way better when iMav was the only one managing the forums when it comes to content, community, freedom of speech, attitude and else. The lack of rules made the forum unique and special.

All the forum right now works around the marketplace. It's just the Keyboard Marketplace on the internet :|

I'm not as old as some users but I'm old enough to see how that forum have changed and in my opinion not in a good way.

I made DT my home and I won't change that choice. Still take an eye on GH to see new pictures and GB though. Also it helps me to make some laughs at home

I appreciate those users that also bring GB here to DT like Lysol, 7Bit or tinlong117 to name a few.

I rarely visit GH anymore, feel more comfortable here. More like, going to the pub where you already know everyone :D

honestly I don't know what happened to us, we were fine and chatting then one day I see cheap blows to me, I'm not sure what I did to make you dislike me so much as a person.

if it was something I did, I definitely didn't mean it and I apologize

but as a person that has chatted with you for a good year and we had some good laughs over the year I feel that at the very least you can tell me what I honestly did to you to make you hate me?

DT is a far more interesting forum with much, much more keyboard knowledge. It also has much more mature members which is why the relaxed rules work so well, GH is full or bitchy, neurotic members which is why it descends so quickly into chaos.

DT is the better forum in my eyes but it's just not for me so I don't use it much.

If only I was cool enough to like MLP as a grown man!

I'd love to contribute more to DT but I just don't like keyboards enough so I stay away mostly. Fountain pens is my passion now that i have enough income to satisfy that hobby.

Sell me those scarface caps then man =)

Fountain pens are not my thing, but interestingly it's a similar hobby involving objects, varieties, qualities, history, etc.

What kind of man would ever sell his scarface caps? Wait...

Posted: 31 Jan 2013, 00:55
by longweight
Only a shadow of a man would do that...!

I have always loved pens, I still love keyboards but I won't be buying anymore in the near future.

REPORT'D!!!!!!111111

Anyways, pens sound interesting, but i'll stick to keyboards, paintball, and audio for now, expensive enough as it is. My brother is trying to get me into his hobbies: fragrances and safety blade shaving...I really hate him sometimes, but I guess he is paying me back for getting him into mechanical keyboards.
