don't ask. I'm making the last layout today. if it doesn't work. I quit. Even though I believe 7bit is the only one arguing here

It's nice to have spare keys, there's always someone that needs them eventually.

but for a winkeyless you need: BASE+CURSOR+F1F12+ALPHA+BASEMOD125+MOD150 right?
BASEMOD125 has also 2 shift/caps/blahblahblah
I mean, just for 4 keys you have to get 20 more.
Edit: also if you want just a capslock/ctrl switch you get a hell lot of spare keys
It seems just wrong. Also you would need two base kits if you would want plum modifiers with coffee alphas since 7bits versions now lacks modifiers since they are integrated in the base kit. Also, why are we splitting the cursor keys from the base/modifier keys? Dont make people have to buy A LOT of extra keys just to be able to use the on winkeyless boards, please.

We came so far:
+ key family
+ color-scheme and real SP color codes are known
+ key cap legend position and ocntent
+ key cap sizes
What still needs to be done:
- well thought out partition into kits
- collecting orders
- final price quote
- collecting money
- ordering
- production
- shipping to distributors
- shipping to us
- unpacking and swapping key caps
[===33% done=======>------------------------------------------------------------------]
All I ask for is:
separate kit for the 1.25 units modder keys and
duplicate all 1 and 1.5 units keys from the standards modifier kit into the respective modder and extra kits!

This might be a solution.
With kit1 + 2 you covered 70% of user cases. Add kit 4 and 5 and you are at 90%.
Everything else is for 7bit (and admittedly, me since I need 1u mods and various others).

I believe at the end you end up with many more spare keys actually. aaanyway.
there are a couple of small errors. I'll have them fixed when I get some time.

Yes: In the Extra it (KIT8), please remove SCROLL LOCK, PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN,
and add SHIFT LOCK, PRIOR and NEXT.

PRIOR and NEXT?! what the...?
regarding shift lock... I'm toying with the idea of replacing caps lock altogether

Just forget my last post. It is for bonus points!
You should now think out prices, add some percentage to cover unexpected price raises from SP and then take orders and collect at least 50% payments.

Now the part you won't like. I have to present this to GH

and hope they like it as well.

Add some free nail paint keys and they buy without thinking!
Maybe a TKL and STANDARD kit for those who can't think themselves (90% of GH userbase) would be nice (combination of existing kits).

LOL! Don't be so mean

They are good guys

KIT1+KIT2+spacebar should be feasible...
they are definitely going to ask unbranded mods

You forgot to ask if you can pay in switches
great work matt3o I'll be down for most of them!
I think the way your split them up will make people buy 2 sets. I think I'd end up buying both mod packs and then getting 2 alphas so they wouldn't just sit in a draw!

I'm sorry I don't agree, these are very complex kits for whom has to sort them (and for real noobs, infact we would have to add a TKL kit anyway). I like the idea too but I don't think this is gonna happen.
Hang on! I was replying about the set breakdown _you_ proposed that 7bit scribbled all over. I definitely prefer the unscribbled on set. Sorry for any confusion.

It's nice to see a collaboration of ideas put together without much conflicting, and then magic happens

Sure will I pay in switches! Switches are the currency of the future!

be assured that I will buy more switches thanks to this key set, regarding the PCB/plate I'll have to build my own, none of the proposed meet my taste

Catches up. Admires the final set. Put me down for at least:
KIT1 1
MADNESS100 2
BLANK100 12
BLANK200 4
BLANK200P 2
with an option on another
KIT1 1
MADNESS125
BLANK200 4
BLANK100 8
BLANK125 2
If these keys play nicely with a Kinesis Advantage and I've got the cash.

Just noticed a lack of =/+ and '/" in 125. Ah well, I know where they are, easy enough to substitute blanks.

what are they needed for?

The Kinesis layout. =/+ is top left, '/" is third key down, far right column.
I can do a test of the Kinesis with sphericals using the ones I've pulled off my Maltron; Not sure they're the same profile, but should give me some idea of how things work. The default Kinesis profiles are amazing; they appear to be both column and row dependent, using profile shape to help keep the (flexible) PCB curves a wee bit more consistent than in the maltron. I shall give it a try and report back. Probably after the weekend.

Since you have a caps lock switch kit, could you add a caps lock sized backspace as well? I wouldn't have asked if you weren't replacing caps lock, but since you are and you're supporting Colemak in the extended alpha kit, it's worth mentioning that Colemak replaces caps lock with backspace, so it would be nice to have for completion. I wouldn't die without it though, I'm pretty happy that Colemak keys are included in the extended alpha to begin with.
