Hold on! Capslock should always be ctrl, period!

I actually like it to be FN

I'm actually quite used to it being Super because that's where I have it bound on my SSK and other winkeyless boards.

Programmability FTW!

I use Caps Lock as Fn. Control is much less used on the Mac (it's always had the separate Command key for that, without the need for a merger like the PC). And I have Escape remapped a bit closer like Matt, too, although I use it a hell of a lot less than him. Mere dozens of times a day, not hundreds!

My favourite macro is actually Shift+Shift = Caps Lock. I do use it occasionally after all! Once Soarer succumbs to my nagging for layer locks in his controller, I'll invoke layers the same way: with pairs of left and right mods.

there's another factor. I switch often between computers (at least 3). Mac, linux, windows. Each has a different keyboard, so I try not to overdo with the keyboard layout otherwise I go crazy every time I switch to a different station.

That too. I go a little crazy inside every time I have to re-teach myself to use the Model F AT :P

I find my IBM XT quite roomy for mods, compared to all my winkeyless Model M's. Entirely thanks to programming:

It's the ctrl and alt positions that get me, as well caps lock which I need for mapping!

That wouldn't work for me. I often happen to press both Shift keys when programming, typing symbols in all caps such as NUM_ROWS, holding left Shift for the capital letters and then pressing right Shift to type underscore with the right hand.
Bpiphany's Phantom firmware uses Shift+Shift to enter the boot loader. It used to drive me mad that the keyboard stopped working now and then for no apparent reason. Then I read the source code and got enlightened... I changed it to Ctrl+GUI+GUI.

BTW, the old Next computers used Command + Shift to enter Caps Lock. Makes sense, but it limits which key combos you can have: not Command+Shift+S for "Save As" for instance.

Indeed. I have absolutely monkey balls amounts of application shortcuts of my own, many including Shift, so that wouldn't work at all for me. But Shift+Shift is so sweet I'm keen to try out its natural brothers with the other paired mods…

That's the thing with programmable controllers: each to their own. We share our tricks, and choose whichever ones fit our style.

Now c'mon with the programmable Topres! Or a full featured USB>USB "converter" we can rely on. Save Cookie, please!

How often do you use Command + Ctrl though? Just wondering if my combination of Winkey (treated by Mac OS X as Command) + Caps lock (reprogrammed to Ctrl) would work on a Mac.

I use it a ton. Ctrl+Cmd+Z to resize a window, Ctrl+Cmd+S to speak the current selection (handy for quick proof reading when writing), Ctrl+Opt+Cmd+8 to toggle negative colours mode (which my headache inspiring eyes need quite often) all come to mind. A bit niche, surely, but I'm in there.

IMHO, breeding them is animal cruelty. First, it is natural for a cat to have fur. Second, they have lots of hereditary health problems.
