This question is based off of the new Apex M800 board, featuring a new mechanical switch designed for gaming. I know what your thinking: "More marketing BS… Ace must be pretty guillable to believe that". But hear me out. These switches do seem effective. They're esentially Cherry MX Reds with a cusion effect that is comparable to large O-Rings, only slightly mushier. They also have a much shorter travel distance. The result is perfect for gaming.

But the overall board has certain flaws. For starters, it's not TKL. It just got me thinking if there are any other low profile, short travel distance style mechs in existance. I doubt it, but it was worth an ask.

Logi(tech) is supposed to release a new keyboard with the Omron "Romer-G" switches in TKL form factor. The switches are somewhat similar, but as they are made by Omron they are probably of much better quality. The big drawback with the "Orion Spark" keyboards though is that the keycaps have some weird shapes.

Otherwise, you could try using thicker, or several O-rings on a Cherry MX keyboard. Razer and Gateron switches actuate somewhat earlier than Cherry MX also.

If the Steelseries QS1/Kailh PG158301D01 switches are better for gaming or not... that is highly subjective. There is no "gaming switch", period.

I like my liner space invaders for gaming !

They are low profile by design !

ML as a switch aint bad but i have never seen one in a proper layout and with a case that not super flimsy
