Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-I LED problem

Hello everyone, I'm new here, so maybe my thread will look bit stupid. I just don't know where else i can ask for help.

So I bought Rapid-I couple months ago as my first mechanical keyboard, was extremely happy about it, it is just perfect for me in every aspect. But about a week ago one of LEDs died. I guess you guys know this problem, cause after I googled it I came across multiple threads about LED dying shortly after purchase, and still no official answer from CM besides "We are currently investigating it. Please request RMA."

I'm okay with that, still have the warranty, but alot of people there already got 2, and even 3 replacement keyboards and this problem goes on and on. Don't know if I should ask for replacement or just request refund.

So I just wanted to ask you guys, maybe anybody here knows, does CM fixed this and if yes, does this new fixed batch already in shops and how can I recognize it (serial number, maybe).

Thread about it on CM official forum:

I don't have a quickfire so i don't know but it sounds like ether a batch of dodgy LEDs or the voltage is too high across the led.

CM Brian may know more but i would check the voltage accross the led if you have a multimeter

Sorry, i do not have it. If I remember correctly there was such assumption about voltage problem in thread, and there was the same answer "We are currently investigating it".

Thank you for your answer.

He's probably thinking of CM Bram. He's a CM rep that's often around the forums. There's another rep around but I don't remember their name.

I had same problem with Rapid-I LEDs (http://deskthority.net/review-f45/coole ... 10156.html). My solution was to turn off the lights and replace the keycaps with better PBT keycaps. Not really a solution, but it beats dealing with the support. It seems, CM should just stop doing backlit stuff till they master the craft .... Noppoo & Keycool did it :o ... the keyboard may not work but it will be lit

Hey, thanks for the info, i guess i'll just RMA this keyboard, wait for next LED to fail and just order some new fancy keycaps.

buy that , turn the lights off and never look back

They feel so nice , better even that Spherical double-shots imo

Get some nice lubed vintage switches in there with stickers and you will have the best cherry experience around.
