I've acquired an MID-AM-KM064A and am trying to program it.



I've seen the following posts:

And have tried the ChangeMe 5.2 software from the Tipro website and the 5.7 software in the first thread linked above. Both give a "Keyboard not found at PS2 port" message when trying to detect the keyboard. A 5.8 has been mentioned but I'm unable to find a download link for it.

The keyboard is connected PS/2 to the DIN8 port via a bodged PS/2 cable and works. I can use the programming from the EPOS system to type numbers, special keys etc, the LEDs for layers and locks are working, I'm taking this as they keyboard is functional.

Couple of people who've had problems like this have used 32bit WinXP, but a small number have succeeded on 64 bit Windows. I don't have a 32bit system to hand currently so am hoping to get it working on 64bit Win8.1.

Get 32bit OS or no joy!
Your only other option is a 32bit VM on a processor that supports VT-d or AMD-Vi (low level access to peripherals)

The only 32 bit machines I may be able to use do not have PS/2 ports. Can I get a serial to PS/2 cable?

The ideal would be a serial to DIN8 cable so I could do this over COM but I can't find anywhere other than China that sells them (I'm UK)

Tipro USB controllers allowing programming of the discontinued MID range keyboards with 64-bit systems will be available at about 60€ + (high-cost, I fear) shipping. Note that they will not work with all MID units, though, as this will depend on the firmware version of the module.

@kbdfr Thanks for the info, any idea where these are sold. Additionally would I have any luck with an RS232 cable rather than the PS/2 I'm using now?
