In the past few weeks I have been seeing the entire Western world’s media working itself up into a state of histrionics. Trump is Satan, he is Hitler, he is Voldemort. The exaggerations and foaming at the mouth invective never seem to end.

I didn’t start out as a Trump supporter. I still prefer Bernie Sanders and anyone who’s Independent and non-Trump. But Bloomberg’s backing out of the race, just because he’s so scared Trump may make it to the White House if Bloomberg split the liberal vote, has inspired me to say a couple things.

The mainstream media seems to have forgotten that a person is innocent until proven guilty. You have freedom of speech, not freedom of action. Trump hasn’t killed anyone. He has never even been recorded as telling his security guards to insult or beat Muslims. He just has a very big mouth that often offends people. Why do you ascribe all kinds of crimes to him?

You know what a Muslim hater looks like? I think he is a guy who, according to Wikipedia, regularly makes speeches in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. He is treated like a VIP and applauded by the good people of Dallas. He regularly gets paid to be a motivational speaker. The media does not hate on him. But he was responsible for over half a million Muslim deaths and massive destruction and destabilization across the entire Middle East. He also personally ordered the torture and extrajudicial executions (by drone strike) of many Muslims.

Let’s not beat around the bush here. This guy had some seriously hateful actions with consequences. Everyone was trying to talk him out of it, and he went ahead and did it. And the mainstream media called him the Commander in Chief.

Next, JK Rowling called Trump worse than Voldemort. But on the basis of what actions? War mongering? Actions which Hillary Clinton were responsible for? Has Trump ever done anything remotely militaristic?

This fantasy writer JK Rowling is on record as telling people to vote Labour in the UK. Oh yeah, I remember. Labour’s last fuherer was some guy called To B Liar. Liar hookwinked an entire country into a bloody and horrific war where depleted uranium rounds were fired, entire cities like Falluja leveled with artillery and air strikes, weapons of mass destruction called Thermobarics were employed, and a formerly secular society torn asunder and radicalized. Was Voldemort ever this bad?

All the hate against Trump aside, we already have someone worse than Voldemort, and he is someone JK Rowling voted for. He is the Labour Party’s longest serving leader and prime minister. Right now he is making good money being one of the highest paid speakers in the world. B Liars and Associates is paid astonishingly well by both the UK and various third world dictatorships for ‘advice’ (power brokering and backroom chummy connecting).

Whatever evil Trump can or will do, it is hard to do worse than Messrs Bush and Blair.

That said, I am sad Bloomberg choose to drop out. He was just scared off by the endless anti-Trump fear mongering. Bloomberg could truly have split the race three ways. Trump wouldn’t have gotten more than his core 29-33% of the vote. Hillary would never have commanded a majority. And Bloomberg would have sucked up all the votes of democrats who hate Hillary, and all Republicans who are affronted by Trump. This would have been a truly important and valuable shake up of the corrupted and ossified US political system.

I agree that the war crimes committed by the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Bush/Wolfowitz cabal are quite possibly the worst thing that has happened to this planet since World War 2, but for all of Trump's bluster, he probably couldn't or wouldn't be able to go to such extremes.

He is an actor, a celebrity, a poseur, but of an opposite stripe than Reagan, who portrayed restraint in public but acted recklessly behind the scenes.

Trump is the media's darling because he cuts such an exciting and swashbuckling figure, while all the others are beneath boring.

Most people I know say "Trump is Hitler" "Trump is bad" Trump is racist hurr durr" but don't know about any of the other candidates or anyone elses policies. The only thing they know is to not vote for Trump because of the harsh media backlash against him.

Setting aside that it is quite unethical to first explain why A is better than B
and then ask people if they find A is better than B,

you're obviously not making a poll because you are interested in what people on DT think,
but opening a new Trump thread to express your opinion and try to gain people to endorse it.

Think he is just enjoying his newfound freedom.

I don't know what will come out of a Trump presidency, and neither does anyone else -- though I'd guess four years of utter economic disaster, nepotism, general foreign policy ruin, etc -- the man failed to run a *casino* profitably -- but, no matter what else happens, the existing Republican party structure would be destroyed. They're not going to let that happen, any more than the Democrats will allow Sanders to stop Hillary's coronation.

Berserkfan, you probably don't see the problem because you're not a muslim yourself. Imagine you were one; would you like it if someone talked about you the way Trump does?

Bush Jr failed to run even a baseball team

(his father, on the other hand, an intelligent and rational man, had been a successful international businessman before his decades-long career in politics began)

The Republican Party would be damaged, but its "structure" will remain intact for quite a while. Trump exists outside of that structure.

The media gets more clicks and viewers when they discuss Trump because he is such a polarizing figure. End of story.

Also, you should just start a blog with running political commentary.

I wouldn't be surprised. If that happens then get ready for Hillary. Regardless of his list of failures, the only thing that matters is the result. He is a billionaire. Turned a few million into billions.

The economy would be fine under Trump. In fact it would probably do better overall and for sure do better than Sanders.

He would be more strong in foreign policy and not bend over constantly like Obama.

Nepotism will happen with any candidate. Everyone has their favors. But with Trump being self funded, I think it would actually happen less with him.

Like what? Encouraging border control? His notion to ban muslims isn't that insane considering that ISIS has stated numerous times that they are going to infiltrate muslims coming into the US to use for terrorism.

You know, I went to a Holocaust exhibition recently at the Imperial War Museum. What Trump says is really not that different from what Hitler said.

That said, you haven't been paying attention for the last few years if you think the US isn't sending people to camps :p .

No matter what shakes down, he will do great damage to the Republican stranglehold that has paralyzed our country since Reagan took office.

Educate me then. I have heard from many that Reagan was very popular and was one of the greatest presidents. Please enlighten me on this "paralyzing stranglehold"

Reagan's presidency was riddled with corruption and deceit, despite his cheerful cowboy image.

For just one example, he raised taxes a dozen times and tripled the Federal deficit, yet tax-haters pretend that he was a "fiscal conservative"

We can thank him for the Taliban, too, and the "master-minds" behind the Iraq invasion all served in his administration.
