I purchased a lot of four keyboards that were all "bad". Two were IBM XT Model Fs and worked perfectly on an IBM XT (and not AT as expected) and one was an IBM rubber dome Model M that works fine with no issues. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. The last is a silver label Model M that has a bad SDL cable. I can live with that!

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an SDL to 5 pin din cable so I can check for continuity issues? I should probably just buy a new cable but those original black curly cables are so nice, I want to try to fix it (if possible).

Off topic: This is my first IBM Model M rubber dome after having several buckling spring varieties and using an SSK at work as my daily driver. It's actually not too bad but I would certainly be disappointed if I got a rubber dome instead of an expected buckling spring model. They still don't compare in my mind but it's not terrible for a rubber dome.

I think I may spring for an SDL to USB cable to replace it. I use an SSK at work with a PS/2 to USB dongle connected to a Surface docking station. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work when I re-dock so I'm hoping an SDL to USB cable might work better. Anyone know of a decent priced complete SDL to USB cable?

(P.S. I will still try to fix my cable. It's an original black curly one and I love those early cables).

I desoldered the SDL connector in my SSK and popped in a Pro Micro: workshop-f7/how-to-use-a-pro-micro-as-a ... t8448.html

Basically, you have to solder four wires from thekeyboard controller on that picture to the Pro Micro. After that, you may use some nice, thin and short USB cable.

Or you contact orihalcon for some ready to work SDL to USB cable
