Unicomp keyboard weirdness (Lenovo USB issues)

I bought 2 Unicomp bucking spring keyboards last year and fell in love. Then suddenly on the one I have at work the space bar and the minus key and the enter key on the numeric keypad stopped working. I plugged in my extra keyboard and took the bucking spring home. Finally had a chance to test and nothing seemed amiss, so I bought it back - but it was still not working (same issue) so took it home again. Finally last night I had another opportunity to test and on both of the computers I have at home all the keys worked - I tested and my wife also tested, on separate computers. I was like WTF - so I bought it back to work today - the space bar, and the minus and enter on the numeric keypad still don't work....but only when plugged into my or a co-workers Lenovo T540p. Plugged into another co-workers T520p or his managers T550 all the keys work.
I have other USB issues on this laptop - when my Logitech unifying receiver is plugged in it won't boot, just hangs. Aside from throwing T540p's in the trash I'm at a loss...any ideas? even any ideas of how I might test the usb system????
Other co-workers, including the other T540P tested above, have Logitech unifyings on them and they boot fine. Mine won't boot at work, or at home when my kvm (with unifying attached) is plugged in. Once I'm booted I can plug in and use the mouse fine.
