So... Uh... I'm pretty sure a few people here assume that my real name is Mark.
It's actually "Alec."
That is all.

Well, I just assume that most people online would rather be referred to by their username instead of their real one.
It's confidential, right?

Nah, never did; I just used it because of your username, but I figured the odds were low that it was actually your real name.

I'm calling him Mark from now on.

Quite a few people at a computer club I'm a member of actually prefer Mark over Alec... Maybe the universe is telling me something.

Me too. Good thing we cleared this up Mark.

Well my real name is Stabilised, I just thought the z made it look cooler

Right.

Seems like you really needed that to give your real name that "edge".

It is of utmost importance that random people online think that you're cool and edgy, especially on a forum all about keyboards!

I myself always find it a lot nicer to converse in real names instead of aliases. Probably why I sign everything with Thomas or Tom xD .

I loathe sigs. They break the neat divide between names on the left, and post on the right. Do a Beardsmore and out yourself!
Meanwhile, I should probably just use my username in real life. My birth name is confusing, thanks to my parents failing in
due diligence.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm really glad that you started this thread. This is the sort of thing that keeps me up at night.
Really glad.

If your own name was Mark, why would you say ohai to yourself?

You're tearing me apart, ohaimark.

It wasn't "Oh, hello Mark"
it was "Oh, I got a high mark"

I obviously started this thread with serious intentions and genuine concern about the state of my username.

Seriously? Because it's OK either way unless it really bothers you. There have been serveral instances of users changing their username.
How about "ohaialec" ?

Do you even brownfont?
Nah, I just wanted to post something OT for amusement value. ohaialec doesn't have the same movie reference or ring to it.
Also... My post count just hit a grand!

Shame it had to spiral like this.
(Sorry about the gifs, The Room is one of my favorite movies!)

While I wouldn't dare call it my favorite, I will say it is my favorite movie to force other friends to watch.
Watching their reactions makes the painful acting worth it in spades.

Mark is easier to type.
Also I need to watch the Room, I have only seen the doggy scene and rooftop scene.
