Strange behavior with teensy

Fohat was kind enough to build me a conversion box, which tests several different kinds of keyboards, including Model M terminal boards. So I tested a terminal M, and everything worked fine, at first. I opened WordPad and tested all the characters, and that went well. Then I used the right Alt and the numpad to type some ASCII characters. That also went well.

The problems came after that. Nothing on the main screen worked after I closed WordPad, either with the mouse or by keystrokes. So I opened WordPad again, and this time nothing typed as expected. I had to reboot the computer to get things working again.

Why is this? Is it reproducible?

From time to time I have USB problems of various sorts that require a reboot, whether Teensy-related or not.

I attribute the problem to USB connections going loose or the computer becoming generally befuddled.

Usually it means that mice and keyboards just go dead (including lights out on mice).
How did you open another instance of Wordpad, by the way, with no keyboard or mouse?

Unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in, since it is USB. I tried doing that with the keyboard, but it did not help.
