F vs M cases and feet

All of my F 122s have a round circle in the end on the side, for the type of foot.
All M 122s are supposed to have smooth sides, and feet that fold out.
So what is an M 122 with F feet and a plastic back? 1390832 is the part number.

I think that's a transition model, but it's well-known. The real way to differentiate the M122 from the F122 is just the back panel or "pan".

It is easier to modify those first-gen M-122s to make replacement top case shells for F-122s, but it can be done with later ones, too.

I haven't seen any 138xxxx part numbers that are M's (at least that I remember). Here's another with the same part number that has an F style back label

Very very early Model Ms had "bar code" labels.
I have never personally seen an F-122 whose model number did not begin with 611*
