Ducky Shine 5 - Lighting profile bug
Posted: 03 Nov 2016, 14:42
Hi there
I'm writing because in September I bought a Ducky Shine 5 (RGB , UK layout with Cherry MX Blue) from "cclcomputers" shop on ebay. At first I was looking for a different model with single light colour, but I found this one on sale with the price similar to the others.
I recently found out that this one can't save the colour profiles (CM1 - CM2 from the manual) as it should. In fact every time I shut down the PC and turn it on it goes back to the default settings. If I just reboot Windows the setting is kept, which makes me think to a problem of the power source.
I tried restoring the board to factory settings, I updated the firmware through Ducky's updater but the problem persists.
I sent an email to [email protected] explaining everything.
I also wrote on Facebook to Ducky Keyboards UK and now I've just sent a message to Ducky Keyboard.
No one's replied me yet.
I've just found a similar issue in a Reddit discussion (Link to Reddit), where falkentyne said the bug should be caused by unplugging the mini USB end of the cable while the keyboard is plugged in the PC.
At the moment I can't remember if I did such a thing since I plugged the keyboard in the PC once when I got it, and never unplugged it.
Any ideas on what to do ?
