I've got nearly the same switch. The only difference is that the stem is white. --click-- --click--
The caps are superb but the switch is awful

7bit is right, they are almost identical on the inside as far as I know. The ancient catalog I have has 7 variants. I am guessing they had at least 3 different force variants and 4 stem variants. There is an even older version that says "CHERRY" on it in a generic font. I think they go back as far as the 70s.

This board, I believe is from 1979. It'll be arriving in a week or so (barring Thanksgiving).

The caps will look beautiful once cleaned, but too bad they wouldn't be compatible with modern boards :(

Nice keycaps, they must fit the old cherry switches stem?
How old is that keyboard ?

I was told 1979, but from some markings I'd say at least August, 1980.

Unfortunately I don't have any Cherry MX boards to try quickly with :P. But my guess is that they do fit.

May be, but i don't think...

I have an Epson HX20 from 1981-1983 ans the keycaps do not fit. Some people dremeled the inner stem.

Contribute your experience .. what was the problem you've stumbled upon ?
I dremeled them too:

Disadvantages:
takes much time
destroyed a dremel head
noisy work

Advantages
superb caps !

Those look great. The definite disadvantage of doing anything with keycaps or switches, is that you have to repeat it many times for a full keyboard.
