Apple Adjustable Keyboard M1242

Dammit, I overlooked a buy-it-how-auction ending midweek; now someone in Germany got an ISO M1242 with a lot of nice ADC cabling and - most importantly - a working Griffin iMate. Luckily, I already own an iMate, and just took it out of the cupboard with my beloved M3501 AEKII.
Just to adjust the total amount of displeasure about this unfortunate event properly - would the M1242 have been worth it?
I generally enjoy light actuation with noticeable tactility, and if it also clicks, that is an additional benefit. Cherry MX blues are my current favorites, although I enjoy white complicated Alps a lot. Anyways - I wanted a M1242 ever since I saw one paired with a IIfx at a local Apple store in the early 90s; somehow I find the look of the keyboard aesthetically pleasing in a way hard to describe.
Considering all of this - do I need to call my shrink to talk about it, or is the A1242 just a flimsy built piece of crap, and the low profile Alps are generally considered horrible, in spite of their full key travel?
