Notebook key travel

I was reading the specifications for the Sony VAIO VPCZ21M9E ultra-portable notebook for another reason:

With the tab left open, I noticed that it includes the specification of key travel, at 1.0 mm.
I don't think I've ever seen the key travel cited in a laptop specification before. Unfortunately it's not a machine that I have to hand.
