Right when I swore myself NOT to buy anymore Model M's this came along and I could not pass it up. I snagged it faster than Slom could post it after the seller accepted my moderate offer. This keyboard was on my "I'll never find this" list and I gave up a long time ago BUT this once again proves...never say never.

It had nasty coffee stains (or something much much more distgusting) on the case and tons of dust & filth inside, other than that it's in really good shape. This picture is from the seller:
These indy M's are basically the bling-bling version of the regualr Model M's. "Bling-bling" is a joke since they are pretty much identical to regular M's of the same respective age. Cleaned inside and out seebart style:
The seller shipped this Model M with three keycaps that don't fit this layout. Not sure what the keycap on ESC is but the two "PF*" Programm Function keycaps sitting on ALT are usually from terminal keyboards, this PF8 having red APL letters on the front face. Unfortunately there are no other APL keycaps are present on this keyboard.
It has two-part keycaps, I'm not sure we'll ever find a pattern behind IBM's use of one part vs. two part keycaps in terms of models and production years. Maybe clickykeyboards knows more? I own younger and older IBM keyboards with one-part keycaps.
Pretty good rivet situation for a 31 year old Model M, all keys register and feel uniform and snappy the way they should although rivets are missing.
We have a 1390653 in the wiki with a silver badge, just like with the one/ two part keycaps I don't think we'll ever find out what IBM's guideline (if any)was in regard to silver/ black indy badges although the silver badge indy's are much more rare. The wiki page also reads that the 1390653 is from the "late 1980's". Interesting how mine is from 1986.

Wow, now that is the Model M to have. Very low serial number as well, I bet the first day of production for this part # at this specific plant.

Aside from SSK's yeah basically. Remember that anything IBM is less common over here making this the best IBM find for me in along time. The seller had no idea...

Congrats on the keyboard seebart. But I would have grabbed the IBM PC XT too. It is an internal IBM computer and who knows what's inside. It's serial number is the 1837th one made which is probably more significant that the keyboard. Your keyboard is one of the first because it is direct from IBM. Great find!

I'm at my limit in terms of keyboard storage now, I can't start with bulky+heavy vintage computers! That's your department.
