I like how you kept the separator on the left, gives it a distinct look. Can you put leds there? would be cool for layer indicators.

All of those little rectangles in the separator are green leds, but they aren't wired up to do anything right now. I only have one layer currently and the big orange square one is wired to light up while that layer is active. I would like to do something with the others at some point. Thought about just having them all light up while it's active.

This keyboard is so awesome. I love the colour mix and work you put in to convert it. Did the donor typewriter
have reusable switches, or did you have to mod the keycaps to work with something else? And the back plate, did you reuse or fabricate a new one? If these questions have very obvious answers, my apologies. I'm new here. Joined so I could comment on your creation.

I used the original switches from the typewriter. They're linear and a bit heavy, but they are satisfying to press. I'm also using the plate from the typewriter. I cut it down with an angle grinder. It's also wired up using wire salvaged from the typewriter. Glad it inspired you to create an account. It was a fun project. I have another version of this typewriter (Alpha 610) that I'm going to convert, I just need some more wood.
