There's a local ad for this typewriter. It's the same one as on this video:

Some models from this series have mx stems but I'm not sure of this one.
I'm thinking of grabbing it just for the keycaps. Am I sane ?

It's such a nice looking typewriter that it'd be a shame to harvest the caps and ditch the rest. If it were non-functioning then I could see that, but it appears to work great.

If you do just keep the caps at least put it in an orange case.

Unfortunately it is in working order and i'd hate to destroy any vintage equipment, even if it's not in my sphere of interest. However, removing the keycaps isn't that bad, because I can put them back in anytime.
The problem is I don't know what kind of stem these have.

TA typewriters were produced in thousands and most of them have no collecting value at all. People will never ever use them again, buying new ink for them is not that appealing too. Don't feel bad about destroying such stuff.

And they may have been produced in the thousands 30+ years ago, but the numbers are dwindling fast.

If we all had this attitude towards every piece of old hardware, we'd be going around destroying history left and right!

For example, the IBM portables with alps switches and the mac 512k keyboards and many others are often victims to this.

Dindling? Sure. Dwindling fast? Not so sure

Checking the small ads site (run by eBay in Germany) ebay-kleinanzeigen.de, I count 19 of them listed in the last 3 months
and that's just those which weren't sold.

So yes, destroying even half of them should be no problem.

These typewriters are completly useless these days and no serious person would write on those regulary. And you can't store everything, these typewriters are fucking huge. We shouldn't feel obliged to keep every shit that previous generations had.

I could totally use it regularly, since it's an electronic/electric typewriter. Those are the ones that I like (IBM selectric).

@purdobol Thanks. I've found the thread you mentioned, but unfortunately there's no sign of this model. I also had a look on the list you posted before and although there are some Gabriele models in there, the 2000 is not listed.

BTW, that sort of info is supposed to be in the Wiki. There is an article on Triumph-Adler but not on the other brands.
