I'm sure it's posted somewhere here but can't find it. I stumbled across this video on Facebook on our very own Jacob Alexander (Haata) and a piece entitled "The Keyboard King". Very interesting. Didn't know he was from Canada and yes, shipping is a bitch.

If you haven't seen this, it's worth a look. The comments are particularly entertaining but then again, it is to be expected with anyone who has a serious passion.

The comments make me sad, not necessarily because people don't understand keyboards, but that people can't let people live the way they want to live.

As a serious collector, people are narrow minded and don't understand. That's why I find the comments amusing. I am certain Haata is much happier doing what he's doing than those who are making comments. He shouldn't care about the comments.

Ironically, he probably has made a ridiculously good investment if he got into it in 2007 before the hobby really became popular, so I assume way less competition and things were much more reasonably priced.

I am also somewhat disappointed that he didn't name his favorite keyboard :-/

I understand his mentality 100%. Would be really cool if he started a sort of keyboard museum or something. I know I'd make a pilgrimage there lol. I imagine it would be kind of hard to watch everyone slowly wearing down your keycaps on certain rarer models though. Would need to rope some of them off!

And as far as the ladies? A lot of women would be drawn to a man with passion like his about his hobbies and that he started his own company because of it.

Off topic: Can't you live near the border and have a P.O. box in the other country?
Not long ago, I bought some stuff on eBay from a woman in a southern Vancouver suburb — and when I got it I saw that it was stamped in Washington state just south of the border.

In theory yes, but you'd still risk getting charged customs fees for importing them back into Canada. Also, you have to have a verified US address to open a PO Box.
