Super Tactile Alps switch

I'm going to share my recipe for a highly tactile and clicky Alps switch you can make. It feels almost like BOX Navy but has a much deeper click.

There is a tiny bit of pretravel, then you hit a large tactile bump.

First, start with an Alps SKCM switch, then swap in the click leaf and slider from these switches: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100PCS- ... 42800.html

The click leaves are narrower, so put them in the top housing first, right in the center of the space where the original leaf was.

Add a bit of dry lube and you are good to go!

Very interesting!

Perhaps I will have to try these some time.

Here is a (bad) picture of the original clone switch. They can't be used as-is because the bases are slightly too big for use in an Alps plate.
See the crazy click leaf?

Also I'd like to point out the white slider is much more stable in SKCM Black bamboo housings then the original black sliders, and since these feel not that good anyway, still somewhat available, and wear out very easily, they are a prime candidate for this mod.

What do you think the custom switch nickname should be?

NO don't go that far, the NAVY applies as it connects closely to the MX version and you could even made the Alps stem into a Black or Grey version, as long as it has that 'NAVY' connotation.

Also I'm slightly colour blind so those other colours mentioned still look like NAVY to me ;) .

The Stems have to be very slippery like POMs (think that's an unintended joke there) so that the switch works perfectly without requiring any EXTRA lube.
