Restoration - Beamspring Powder Coating Question

Hi - New to the forum and glad to be here. I'm seeking help with the restoration of a recently purchased IBM Beamspring. I have the cover off and and found a suitable powerd coat for the metal portion. But I'm not sure how to handle the plastic part which affixes to the lower front of the metal portion and which covers the manual below the spacebar. Because this is plastic I am wary of subjecting it to the heat process used in powder coating. Has anyone successfully powder coated this part? If not, then my best guess is to take the finished metal powder coated part to a store to get a custom match eggshell paint mixed up and then dip the part by hand to match the metal. Does this sound like a suitable backup plan if the plastic powder coat is not possible? Any help/input is greatly appreciated - Thanks!

I'm assuming you have a 3278?
You can't powder coat plastic as it requires the part to conduct electricity.
Your plan should work.
Someone made a metal cover door a few years back and discussed paint colors:

Excellent info, thanks! I'll go with backup plan. A few mins ago I located a company that is using new way of powder coating some types of plastic by applying conductive spray to the plastic and then very minimal heat so as not to deform the plastic followed by long UV curing. It looks pretty new and likely expensive so I doing the color match with the eggshell base should work fine. Thanks again for your help!
