Model f xt broken pcb fix

I have a model f xt which does not seem to work (I have tried multiple searers converters). I was thinking if there is anyway to bypass the original controller by using xwhatsit and chopping of the old one. Alternatively if anyone has a working pcb I would like to try that instead. Thanks

Yeah, of course you can.

Could be fiddly, mind. You're talking about a good long straight slice, right across this:

Electronically speaking, yes once you've got it off, you could use an Xwhatsit (be sure to use Pandrew's QMK though, as your thresholds could be all shot) or that thing DMA's Commonsense runs on. You'd just tap them into the row and column headers.

Does the row and column have to be in a certain order or can I change it in the software. Does it connect to the part which says "at" and "122" on the xwhatsit controller. Thanks

No need to worry about the *order* of the connections. These controllers are highly configurable. You just need to make sure you got them *all* hooked up. You can sort it out in the software.

Sorry for lateness. Some great guys have linked above, guides are pretty easy, critical point is to configure the correct rows and cols to right pins of xwhasit, rest is what the GUI sofeware will take over. Wish you lucky. :D

Also: l'd advise Pandrew's firmware over Xwhatsit's original. Pandrew's QMK port is much more flexible about signal strength, and he's still active too.

No. Not that I know of. It’ll be hard! I’m sure someone’s done it before, but you’re really not meant to.

Xwhatsit’s installation documentation is all good. Check out the Model F procedure. You’re looking at that, but extra hard and unsupported!
